something special night before?
Did anyone do something special the night before? I want to do a sort of goodbye pain/hello life celebration but I'm not being very creative. All I can come up with is out to dinner, but it seems so normal. Mom will be here to babysit kids so DH and I can go alone if we want. Aunt flo showed up today (hopefully she'll be gone by the 13th) so some things may be limited. Any Ideas?

I wrote an obituary for Aunt Flo and shared it with my co-workers, then had a good-bye party for my ovaries and uterus, consisting of myself and two other colleagues (my partner teachers) toasting with Diet Cokes and eating brownies sharing our horror stories! The night before my surgery, my husband and I were supposed to go to a concert - but I don't know if we'll make it (my surgery was supposed to be way before this, but I was rescheduled) Whatever you do, make it fun and fitting for the event! Good Luck to You!

At first I thought you were calling the bowel prep "something special", lol. First you should find out if you will need to do a bowel prep. This is cleaning out your system & spending the evening before surgery on your throne. Not all docs require it, I was one of the lucky ones. If you do have to do bowel prep, maybe make your big plans for the night before the night before surgery. I had a yummy steak dinner delivered the night before.

July 4th will be my night before...going to see the fireworks is one of my plans. We usually have a picnic but I don't think I'll want to do alot of heavy feasting. I do want to do something though to keep my mind off the next morning but don't know what yet...it's getting close so better make up my mind. I had my pre-op appt today and found out I have no bowel prep. to do Yippee!!! I was fretting about that.

I was actually going to have a mini shower. (I ended up feeling really ill and had to cancel). but, ti was in the works. I invited several close friends and we were just going to play little party games (most embaressing period moments, things like that) I had prepped little spa bags as give away treats. My sis was helping me put it together. Just some ladies geting together to celebrate the end of a chapter. "Farewell Aunt Flo" was what we had as a theme.
I didn't end up having it, but my freinds brought great little gifts to the castle for me, like lotions and candles, etc.
I wish I hadn't gottne sick. Good luck! I reccomend doing it a few days before the eve of the surgery, as nerves tend to run high and get distracting prior to.
Dinner sounds simple, but it may be just the relaxing evening you need prior to the big day.

July 4
July 4 is the same for me how I am going to get ready
may sound odd.I work 3:15-8 that evening. Then I clock out for 4 weeks and say my good byes for now. Walk out the door to I hope watermelon followed by out local fireworks then homeset up drink water and showering for the next morning I have to be at the Castle by 6 a.m. My op is at 7:30.Of course I have not clue about before work maybe a quick dinner I have no meal break. Ask why I wanting to work at the time it seemed like a good ideal now I am not so sure. However if I can give the coworker time with his or her family that day I will be happier. So I can spend the morning with family evening with friends and night with fireworks. Before going to the Castle .

I decided to pamper myself, so I went to the hair salon and spa. I feel pretty with my new hairdo and color. I also plan to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean film the weekend before my surgery.

I've kinda done a week of special things. My hubby surprised me and the kids after my pre-op physical on Wed and took us all to see Cars. He NEVER goes to the movies. He and I went to dinner on Thursday night. We are having our "4th of July" B-BQ tonight. Oh, and he cleaned the entire house last weekend while I sat on the couch. I think the stress is getting to me though....I completely ripped into him yesterday.:-( We're off to do last minute shopping this morning, take my mind off of it.

I think my pre-op celebation is cleaning the house...I'm not kidding! My iron was so low for so long that I haven't been able to really clean. I'm been cleaning every weekend now for 5 weeks and it's great! Seriously, the night before I just plan on eating light and going to bed early. I have to leave for the hospital at 4:30 a.m. so I have to get up at about 3:30. My surgery is at 7:30...first on the books, so no waiting for me!
