Prolapse, cervix question

Hi Sisters, I hope someone can share a little info.
My surgeon says that he needs to take my cervix out because I am having 3-5 day periods every month. At this time, my major complaint isn't that but a very heavy pelvic feeling by mid day, pelvic pain and urinary frequency. I also felt something inside my vagina (at the top) on Monday but it is now gone.
My question is, could I have a vaginal prolapse?
And if I do, will taking the cervix help that ?
Thanks for your time.

Prolapse, cervix question

I called the dr's office and I am scheduled for surgery on Monday July 31st. I'm feeling a little down and could use a few kind words from my Sisters.
Can anyone tell me what to expect from this surgery?

Prolapse, cervix question

Shera, I don't know the answer but hope another sister can answer...I had uterine prolapse before my surgery, and did experience the heaviness you mentioned. Let us know how the surgery goes.

Prolapse, cervix question

Shera,

I'm so sorry for you. One surgery is enough without another. I'm so sorry.

Do you have 100% confidence in your Dr?

Do you feel a second opinion might be in order?

I don't know any of the answers to your questions. But I feel for you.

Prolapse, cervix question

I had that heaviness feeling. For me cervix being out has helped. But when you get your cervix out dr will create vaginal cuff. If your dr is not good at this, you will have problems. Trust me I know,I just has cuff repair surgery due to first dr did not sew it right. What is hard is how do you know if dr is good? They will not tell you they are not and believe me,they will not admit it if they mess it up. But I would ask dr has he/she had to do any cuff repair surgeries and why? Maybe you will get an answer. Be direct and tell dr you are concerned about some cuff problems such as granulation, usually taken care of with silver nitrate, non healing issues and sewing techniques. The best way is the side to side 9 oclock an 3 oclock technique, less scarring and sexual pain issues. If you want you can pm me I will let you know all I can. I would do anything to help another sister not to have to go through all the pain and suffering I have with cuff problems.

Prolapse, cervix question

Oh goodness, a second surgery isn't something to jump for joy for, but I just wanted to tell you that I had my cervix removed and did not experience anything bad afterward-I hope the same for you. My healing went like clockwork and things like intimacy issues were fine. Just think, you won't bleed anymore--and that means more energy for you! I hope this solves the pelvic pain and urinary frequency-will they be doing any exploratory looking around while in there to see what could be contributing to the pain? Wishing you better days--!

Prolapse, cervix question

Sounds like your cervix is bearing down. I pray that this will be the last surgery you will need and that this surgery brings you no complications.

How will they perform the surgery? (((hugs)))

Prolapse, cervix question

Thank you for all the replies. Sorry I didn't get back to this original post. The dr is going to do a diag lap, cysto, and remove cervix. He is a top lap surgeon who actually teaches other dr's how to do these surgeries. He also does studies of new procedures and such but is old fashioned in bedside manner and words. He holds your hand after surgery, he listens to you. I have great confidence in him. I was just so blind-sided by this. I go to see him in 1hour to talk about the surgery. I have a list of questions now.
Sisters, thank you for sharing and caring. I don't really know why I'm so worried about this surgery. I was so very happy when I got the lsh.
I will put up a new post to tell you what he says to me today.
Thank you!
