Sharp pains 7 weeks post op

Hi, this is my first time posting a message, but I have found this site extremely helpful. I am 7 weeks post op today and could be better. I had a TAH due to fibroids. Things have been going well, had the usual soreness and pain for first 4 weeks and then things started to settle down. I have been shopping and driving but still taking it relatively easy. Yesterday, I started getting cramping again and sharp pains near my incision especially on right side. Worse when I have gass or go to toilet. Have decided to lie in bed today and will se Dr on Monday for routine checkup. Is this normal?

At 7 weeks out I did have some discomfort occassionally if I did alot of bending and moving around. Just because my dr released me I thought I could just jump right back into everything. My dr really did not show much concern. We both knew I had overdone it. You did the right thing by getting an appt. Let us know how it goes.

Glad I am not the only one, I still have problems with my bowels too, quite painful and swap between constipation and diarrhea - when is this likely to settle down, as it is getting to be a real drag.

Sharp pains 7 weeks post op

Hi. I just got home, 1 am. I spent my evening walking (and talking) during our local "Relay for Life" fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. I knew I was probably good for one or two walks around the field track. But, I kept bumping into people I knew and offered to walk around with them, just one more time. I think I walked the track about 8 times that I can count, so that must be about 2 miles? Right now I don't know what hurts more, my boo-boo or my feet! I know I will pay dearly for this tonight in bed and tomorrow! It was for a good cause, and I met so many women cancer survivors, some I already knew but never heard their stories before!

Yes, As I sit here and type I realize now I am very sore... and this is my fault! All this walking made me, ummm well, pass a lot of gass, but I could not have a BM. I too still have problems going to the bathroom. Sometimes soft, sometimes hard, urges many times during the day, and almost always with gas pains. Things were not like this before the operation!

At week 4 I too experienced some sharp shooting pains on my R side. I knew I had not done anything to harm myself, so I didn't worry over it. At my 6 week, I asked my DR and he said it was normal.

Wishing you the best, keep us posted. OK?

I saw the Dr yesterday, he said everything was fine and the pains were probably from the bowel problems, which he said could last for another 2 to 3 months or possibly a year - not what I wanted to hear but things could be worse. He gave me some pain killers and some fibre satchets to try and help things regulate. Due to pain and previous surgery he does not want me to go fully back into my exercise routine (horesriding, tennis) for another six weeks. I asked him about dragging feeling I have been getting and he said the top of the vagina (cuff) could be sinking in (he will check this in 4 months time if continues) - might also explain pain in right side last night with sex.

Thanks for support. No one here has had a hysterectomy but expects I should be feeling better now!

I get some of these pains, but for me, my doctor said the areas I was hurting in were places where I was pulling on my internal stitches through movement. I have to be careful - I'll forget and walk too quickly and they really "twinge" on me, or just give me sharp pains.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

I am almost 4 months and I still have twinges of pain that last for a few seconds. My right side is still sore, my left is fine. I am also still numb. I was told all of this is normal and it will be a while before I am completely healed.
I still have gas pain at times and a little constipation, at times.

I don't think my swelly belly will ever go away! Some mornings my stomach is rock hard and huge, others it is half way normal looking.

Best of luck!

I called my GP and she doesn't think the bowel problems that I am having are necessarily caused by the op. Apparently there is lots of gastro going around here so she wants to treat me for that and see if it clears up. Also, the pain with sex is probably caused by the bruised bowel being "hit". So I start on another round of medication today.... hope this is the answer.

I still have soreness inside on the right when having sex. Nothing that I can't tolerate but it is still sore. Had it check out and was told everything looks great.

Do you take a fiber pill? Maybe you will need one till your body gets settled.
