spotting red 4wks post op..help??

Hello, I am mostly a lurker. Up intill right this minute I have healed beautifully, I just went pee and on my pantyliner there was red, red spotting, and on the tp.. I am slighting cramping and have had a little low tummy ache today.

Should i call my Dr (it is Sat, and I would hate to ruin his day for nothing). Right up to today I have felt wonderful, no fatigue, no cramping, felt like normal. I am in good to great shape. Why is this happening? Please advise anyone!!!!!!!!!

I had the same thing happen last Sat. (5weeks +) First thing you should do is call you dr. just to make sure. Mine was just a stitch that dissolved and there was pent up blood behind it.

Good luck!

My doc assured me that I should call right away with symptoms of red blood because that really shouldn't happen this far out after surgery. Go ahead and call - they can either put your mind at ease about this, or go ahead and try to fix it for you. They are certainly paid to respond to patient phone calls after hours and on weekends, so don't feel like you're an inconvenience for them. That's simply not the case.

Please let us know what they say? I hope it all works out for you very soon!

Thanks girls,

I did call and the answering service said they would page him....I took my temp just in case it might be an infection of some type and my temp is normal.....

I should mention I have no cervix, so where is the blood coming from? Stitches??

You know I am glad I had the surgery with all the problems I had however I am not the type to just sit around, I like to do stuff and maybe I just over did it!

Thankyou for responding so fast and have a good weekend!

I had exactly the same thing happen. Three weeks out, had completely stopped even the light brown spotting a day or two before, then WHAM! - red on the TP. Scared me to death. Called the doctor, who said that it was probably just a stitch or scab coming off the vaginal cuff. And what happens when a scab loosens? Bright blood behind it. Ask your own doctor, of course, but mine said that unless I was soaking through a pad an hour, or just was hemorrhaging badly, a little spotting now and then was nothing to worry about. It stopped pretty much that day, with a couple of brownish stains on the panty liner (all I've had to use since surgery) for another day or so. Now I'm back to normal, four days later.

Thanks so much girls,

Doc did call me back and said exactly what you all said. He said take it easy and call him ANYTIME (I love my DR).

I will see him on Monday just to make sure......I am pretty sure I over did it, and what did I do when i got off the phone with my dr? I went to the airport to drop off my Son and then came home and vacumed, clean my bathrooms and mopped.........I am in so much freakin pain!!!! However the bleeding has stop!

Since my Son went to Florida and Hubby is playing golf tomorrow, house is clean I am NOT movin a muscle till Monday

Whoa there! You should not be vacuuming, stooping to clean the bathroom, or mopping so soon. You should really not be doing any of those things until after the 6-8 week mark. These words of wisdom were posted by clynnlarson right after my hyst, when I was considering housework.

If no one is taking care of the housework, who do you think is going to take care of YOU if you injure yourself by doing too much too soon? YOU are the only one who can take the proper care of your body in this time of recovery. Your Dr has given you instructions/guidelines. You have to follow them. Please realize that even though it may drive you nuts to look at the dust on the TV and furniture, the dishes may be piled to the ceiling and the dust bunnys may be taking up residence in your home, NOTHING is more important than your well being. I hope that none of you have to learn the hard way that your body is the most important thing you need to be worrying about right now.

Truer words were never spoken. If I remember correctly, she had injured herself by doing too much too soon. Please remember to pamper the princess.

Sorry for the finger shake...I just get concerned when I read about sisters trying to jump back in the pool of life too soon.
