Who has had multiple 7 month pregnancy size fibroids removed ?

Quite frankly, since my gyn told me that in a year they had turned " humongous "... and referred me to an oncologist gyn (as they operate on that size more frequently)...my fears center around excessive cutting and blood loss. For years my gyn's approach was "watchful waiting",waiting for menopause. At 51 ,still with regular periods...uterus just enlarging.
Don't know of anyone with fibrods that large. Doc talking possibles onTAH,BSO,Subtotal...won't commit until he explores all.

Who has had multiple 7 month pregnancy size fibroids removed ?

my uterus weighed over 2100 grams...I understand 85-150 is "normal". Actual weight of the thing was 6 pounds, I required a vertcal incision to get everything out. I had carried the fibroids around since my last pregnancy (1989) but they became very large around 2000. I could not tie my shoes, cut my toenails or polish them, wear a belt or close my pants, had to buy clothes 2 sizes too big to accommodate the stomach, was asked if I was pregnant by "stupid" people (I'm 56!!) and some of my students, who are kids and just didn't know any better. Dear Lord I am so happy to be on the otber side of this.

Many women here have posted about very large fibroid uteruses. the posts are all over!! Rest assured you have much company here.

All the best to you in whatever you decide to do.

Who has had multiple 7 month pregnancy size fibroids removed ?

I could feel the fibroids by pressing into my abdomen. I could feel one of the big ones at my waist line. Bending at the waist could be a challenge. Oh how I hated the squishy feeling I would get if I accidentally smooshed a fibroid. The doctor had to cut vertically about an inch above my belly button. She cut right under the belly button and then zig-zagged around to get above the waist. I did lose a lot of blood during surgery but fortunately my hemoglobin was high enough that I didn't need to be transfused.

The day after surgery the doctor showed me pics of my 5 pound uterus with cervix. I could see the fibroids pressing thru the thing. The durn thing looked the way it felt inside me. I became very sad from looking at the pics. My sadness was because I allowed myself to carry that thing around in me for so many years.

Best wishes and 's

Who has had multiple 7 month pregnancy size fibroids removed ?

A year ago the doctor said my uterus was 28-30 week size. I was 52 and still having periods, but not regular. I decided to have fibroid embolization first. One reason was to postpone the inevitable hyst surgery, because I kept wanting to believe I could get to menopause and the fibroids would go away. But I seemed to be growing faster, closing in on menopause. Second reason for UFE last July was my doctors all said cutting off the fibroids' blood supply using embolization first, would lessen any blood loss during a hysterectomy, and in the meantime some of the fibroids would shrink. They are smaller now, but not small enough for a laparoscopic or a vaginal option. I'll have a TAH with a vertical incision on July 25th. And the doctor says since I have fibroids outside the uterus it may extend above the belly button. I'm waiting to get a true measurement of the size and weight of the uterus and fibroids. I am now officially post-menopausal, as of a week ago!

Best Wishes!

Who has had multiple 7 month pregnancy size fibroids removed ?

I'm glad to hear more sisters telling of fibroids all the way up by their belly buttons like mine were. I'm so glad to have all of that out of me because now my other organs have room to do their job. I too had a rock hard section in the middle of my stomach...all fibroids.
When I would suck my stomach in, I felt pain. I mentioned this to many doctors over the years but none of them paid much notice. Shame on them!!!

I have hips I can see again. I have a waistline again. I am no longer carrying a 10lbs. bag of potatoes around in my pants!!! I no longer look PREGNANT!!!! I can't wait to get cleared for sit ups!!!

LOL I know what you mean!
I walked in as if I was on death row! Silly me!
I cried so much from the moment I got in the elevator to go sign in that people were asking me what was wrong and I told them I was scared about surgery. I had never had an organ removed before!!!
I never saw the OR because I was thankfully put under shortly after meeting my anesthesiologists in the prep room. I remember them trying to console me as I wept then one of them rubbing my hand saying he was going to give me something to make me relax!!! HELLO!!! 4 hours later, I was in recovery and feeling no pain! I couldn't believe it was over and I have continued to feel great each day!
Good Luck to you!

I am scheduled for 7/21 for abdominal hysterectomy. My stomach is so big, and nothing fits...this fibroid just started growing a few months ago. It is now the size of a small football and growing everyday and am very uncomfortable. I am having hot flashes like their going out of style. They are taking my uterus and ovaries as well, so I will menopause right away.

I have no idea on what to expect. I stumbled across this site by accident and am so glad I did.

Your message indeed offered me so much hope. I certainly understand your "sadness" component. Since the only symptoms I have are three days of heavy periods per month and I can feel the abdominal fullness, I have adapted. The inner me says "foreign ojects" should not inhabit my body. A dear friend calls them "boarders",who never pay their rent.
Thank you so much for sharing that relief comes when they leave you.
We never invited them to come, let alone to stay (lol). Grateful to have found this site, glad to see you are doing well.
