3 week wall

Not sure if I've hit the wall, but boy do I feel ill, exhausted, no energy, nausea, back ache. At least the burning pain has reduced to stinging. I think maybe I've been overdoing things too this week, paying for it today. Have tried to be good today and rested although the shower is leaking through the kitchen ceiling!

3 week wall

Pam,
My surgery was April 16, and I have also been more tired this week than last. But I am not in any pain (tummy is just tender to touch). I thought I was on my feet too much last Wed & Thurs, so rested Fri, Sat & Sun. It made a world of difference. I am walking outside each day, and every day is a little easier. I feel the best today than I have felt the whole time, but I just feel tired. Still taking a nap most afternoons (for 1 hr). Try resting all w/e and see how you do. Take care.

3 week wall

Pam,

We had surgery on the same day. A couple days ago I was the most fatigued I've been since I got home from the hospital. Also I started feeling achiness in my abdominal region (have only taken ibuprofen since I'm home, and that only the first few days.) From what I've read on this site, the wall happens because of a combination of the bulk of the anesthesia finally leaving our bodies and the internal stitches dissolving, meaning our muscles have to take over and hold things up. I think the wall feels extra discouraging to those of us who had an otherwise easy recovery, but it serves the purpose to remind us that our healing is not nearly complete and won't be for months yet. I was also hit with MAJOR depression yesterday, and then I realized that I normally would have been menstruating this week and those hormones have always played havoc with my mood.

I return to work on Monday and am worried about this new fatigue, but am happy to say that both my boss and the HR manager are open to me working only as much as I feel up to that first week back.

Anyway, I guess we need to remind ourselves to continue to take it easy a while longer.

tummy pain

Hi~

Meggie, I had surgery the same day you did, 4/16. I had a TAH/BSO, and I felt really well until yesterday. I hit the brick wall, too. My abdomen is really sorer than it was the first 3 weeks. Maybe I have pushed it the last couple of days, I don't really know. But, other than a pain around the incision, feels kinda like it's on fire...like novacaine is wearing off, I can't complain. I would say I feel better than many of the sisters at this time in my healing process. At least that's what I've learned from reading these posts.

Maybe week 4/5 will be better!

from Texas,

3 week wall

Michele,
Maybe you should rest for a couple of days, you will probably feel better if you do. Also, take a couple ibuprofen. I feel better today than I have the past 4 weeks. I had complications following surgery (lost alot of blood and needed 2 blood transfusions), so it has taken me extra time to get my strength back. I think it is nice to talk with someone who had surgery the same day. Take care.

3 week wall

Pam,

My surgery was the same day as yours. I felt like I had hit the wall on Monday. I had all of the "wall" symptoms. However, I was also vomiting so I got concerned. I saw my DR on Tuesday. After a urinalisis, blood work, pelvic exam, and internal ultrasound, he put me on another antibiotic. I was on one already for an infection in my ovaries. Now that my meds have started working I don't feel quiet so bad. So now I wonder....was it the wall or the infection.

I guess only time will tell.

3 week wall

I had surgery the same day, the 18th. Yesterday I felt really good I didn't go back to sleep after hubby and kids left, went thirft sstore shopping and went to Sam's came home cooked supper and felt best I had in a while. Well let me tell you this, I slept until 11:00am this morning! I could not believe it. I mean I woke up briefly when hubby and kids left and when my 5 yr old woke up and wanted cereal but was in a haze until about 11:30. I guess I over did it because I am ready to go to sleep now!

3 week wall

Hi, Ladies. I don't want to make you guys feel worse, but I'm a week ahead of you...surgery 4/11...and today I feel worse than I did last week! I'm getting stinging pains where my ovaries used to be and a general soreness to the whole (swollen) abdomen. I'm not having any fun yet.......LOL........probably cause I was standing a lot at the hospital with my Dad yesterday. He was in ER for possible mini-stroke. This healing process is taking a bit longer than I thought and I just want to feel normal again. I don't exactly remember what normal is for me, though. My advice...take it slow, rest a lot and don't push yourself. We have the rest of our lives ahead of us to clean, cook, shop......work! Good luck, everybody.

3 week wall

I had totally intended to take Mother's Day to sit on the couch all day and do nothing.

Wrong---I woke up with a burst of energy so I sat in my son's floor and sorted through toys for an hour. My husband has to work nights this week so I was trying to keep the kids quiet so he could sleep a little.

Then I prepared dinner for my son. Whose 18th birthday was the yesterday as well. I thought "what the heck I'll have Mom and Grandma over too." YOu can now all tell me....

I'm paying for it today. After all of that standing in the kitchen, boy do I hurt! My back hurts, my stomach hurts, and even my legs. I guess today will be my couch day!
