11 days pst op having bleeding and foul discharge

Can anyone help me? I have been experiencing some bleeding and discharge with a foul smell. I spoke to my dr. past Monday she said the small amount of bleeding was okay, but I still have it with the discarge. I'm also having some discomfort this evening. I had a rectocele repair and i'm having pain in my rectum and some deep pain in my vaginal area. Did anyone have bleeding at this time post-op??? Anyone with the discharge?? Thanks in advance for your help.

I went to the doctor today and I also have the foul odor of the discharge. The doctor says it's normal. The nurse said that after surgery they put a mustard like paste around the walls to minimize the bleeding and that's what smells. It has to release itself somewhere I guess. Also, any stitches that dissolve inside and any tissues that are left will also come out.....and smell. Sometimes I cry and say I smell like an elephant house. Don't feel bad, you're not alone. You might want to use baby wipes after using the restroom. My doctor says it's okay to do. I've been doing it for a few days and wearing fragrant smelling pads and it seems to be working well. As far as the bleeding goes, if it's more than spotting, call your doctor and make an appointment to be checked out. Better safe than sorry. Take care!

I think it depends on how smelly the discharge/bleed is. My dr said a small amount was normal but to contact urgently if it got heavy, had clots or was smelly.

ha ha elephant house!! Thank goodness we still have a sense of humor.

I am also bothered by the smell. If the discharge turned into bleeding I was instructed to call the doc. So far that hasn't been the case, but I am still struggling with major gas pains and stomach issues. What a journey this has been.

Love, Ruthie
