Do compounded hormones go bad?

Hi all. I have recently restarted using testosterone cream that I had refilled in February. I was at the end of the bottle and just used it up. I have not noticed any benefit at all from the testosterone cream and I was wondering if, even though it isn't supposed to expire for a year from the fill date, it isn't as potent after a few months time. Does anyone know if they lose strength over the course of a few months?

Do compounded hormones go bad?

Hi Carol,
I asked my pharmacist about the shelf life of the creams and she said they should be good for at least a year. I have not had any problems with my creams being less potent after a few months. I always have a supply that is a few months old as I am afraid of running out so I reorder in plenty of time and the new script ends up sitting for awhile before I actually need it.

Do compounded hormones go bad?

I just got a new bottle and it is so different in the texture and how it absorbs. The other one was very greasy and this one is totally not greasy. I called the pharmacy and told them how much better this one was and they said maybe they used less propylene glycol, so they said they will mix it that way in the future. I don't know if it makes a difference or not in the absorption but it definitely did absorb on the skin much faster.
