Estrogen or Progesterone?

I've been to 2 different doctors. One tells me that I won't need any hormnes after my hyst (keeping one ovary). The other said she would like to put me on continuous bcpills until menapause. She said even though I won't have a uterus, I'm young (38) and the low dose of progesterone in bcpills won't hurt me.

Which is it? I've used a variety of pills in the past - love the feeling of estrogen from Ovcon-35 (slept great!).

I'm confused by the differing opinions of doctors!

Estrogen or Progesterone?

You don't have to decide before your surgery as you might feel fine without anything. I would wait and see and then see what symptoms if any you might have.

Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.

Estrogen or Progesterone?

I was put on both. I lost both my ovaries in surgery however. I was on prog. for one month to help shrink what endo was left inside but I was put on estro at my 5 week check up to help with the mood swings. You really have to wait and see what your body is going to do. It is best for people with bone issues in their family to do the HRT. Without the hormones it inceases your chance of bone thinning ad osteoporosis.
