Desperate and need HELP!!!!

I had my surgery on 7/6...a total hyst...I've had my days of feeling "yucky" and others are awesome where I experience little pain and my energy is fine and "normal". Those are the days that I so desperately want to have...the md has put me on antidepressants because of how horrible I was feeling for my 2 wk post op visit, and even prescribed Lunesta for my insomnia. I don't eat or drink anything all day long because of horrible nausea that I feel...I am also diabetic which does not help. My husband and family are very supportive...I feel bad because I want to be able to have a good time with them (we have 4 children under age of 9) but I feel like I'm just being a drag. I cry and cry and don't have anyone to talk to here...no one has had this procedure done before...at least not the people I know. I woke up @ 3:00 am and haven't gone back to sleep...what can I do to help ease some of these problems up. I'm so tired of feeling like this...the bad days definatly outnumber the good ones. Please, if anyone has any advice...I'd really appreciate it.

Desperate and need HELP!!!!

Poor gal. IMO, the best first step is getting the nausea under control. How are your blood sugars doing? Did your doctor warn you that surgical stress will throw your sugars into turbulence? I'm diabetic too, Type II, and I laid in a supply of Boost for Diabetics for the times I'm not hungry but I know I need to eat.

What meds has your doctor prescribed for nausea? What home remedies have you tried? What does your doctor say about your nausea in general?

good listener

hey, not to sure I can help you out that much, however, I am experiencing some of the same symptoms. The crying and the insomnia. I too am on antidepressent meds. however if your MD just put you on them it's going to take a good month before you start to feel the effects of them. not sure how to handle the insomnia ,my MD prescribed ambian just yesterday, says it doesnt have anything to do with the lavh, but I'm not convinced! write me if you want we are all here for you.

I don't know if you are taking any hrt or if you are intending too. I didn't use hrt for a while after my surgery. I started having crying sleeps and the insomnia was horrible.

I started with ambien and then it seemed like a needed it every night to sleep.

I recently started using ert and what a difference it made for me. Like I said I don't know if you can or want to use ert, but if you can you may want to talk to your doctor about it.

Desperate and need HELP!!!!

Hi Gemini - we're a day apart on our hysters! First of all, don't the anti-depressants take a few weeks to "kick in"? If you're not feeling mentally better soon I would tell your doc right away and have him change your prescription. Also is the Lunesta not working? I've had some recent sleep issues too I need to deal with at the next visit. Now I know you know this, but you have to eat!!!! Are you type 1 or 2 diabetic? Your meds could be making you sick but also not eating can be making you nauseaus too. Okay - you need to pick yourself up, get yourself together, and deal with these issues - for the sake of your family. You know you can't go all day long without eating and if you're not taking the Lunesta - TAKE IT! If it's not working, call the doctor right away. Also if you're not feeling better soon with the AD's, call your doc right away. There's no need to be feeling this awful if there's help out there. Okay??? I know for me, sometimes I start feeling sorry for myself and think no ones understands, no one has asked me how I'm feeling, etc. but then I come here and get the reassurance I need. We all understand, believe me. Sometimes its hard for people who don't know or have never been through it to give the sympathy or reassurance you need. All the best to you.....

Desperate and need HELP!!!!

HI Dawn,

I am feeling better thanks. I started on Climara and it worked great until the last few weeks when it got hot. My doctor tried me on premarin, but it didn't do much for me and I had quite a few side effects. I talked with my doctor last week and I'm now on vivelle dot and so far so good. I haven't had any complaints. I don't get hot flashes or night sweats, not emotional any more, and I can sleep.

Thanks for asking how are you doing.. Some women do very well on premarin.

Desperate and need HELP!!!!

Hi gemini78. We had our surgery the same day!!
Sorry to hear this is all hitting you so hard! I think part of all this is being stuck "convalesing" (is that how it's spelt?). I find myself getting down because I am stuck here at home, can't go to work and don't see another soul until hubby gets home (we live in the boonies). I find myself crying at sad commercials!!!!
When I talk to my mother on the phone, she basically says "snap out of it"!!! Then she reminds me of how lucky I am not to have any more periods and how good I will feel once the healing process is finished. That and she reminds me of the six weeks "vacation" I am having. Gotta love mom...she looks on the positive side of things!!! I think if you do that, regardless of how bleak things sometimes seem, it will help. Yes, I do believe a lot of it is mind over matter (not to discount the MDs advise). I also try to get outside for walks, especially early in the mornings when its not so hot. Mild exercise is wonderful for the mind and body!!! Go alone so you can concentrate on you and your thoughts!! You will definately feel better. People always talk about "small steps" and I truly believe they are right. One step at a time. Your body is trying to cope with the trauma it has gone through and in order to do this, it needs nourishment!!! You have to eat!!! Even if you are not hungry and do feel nauseas. Like the other lady said, the nausea could be your body telling you it needs food!!!
I can rant on all day but I won't...this is the first time since 1984 that I have had anything done surgically and it threw me off balance too. But it is part of life and life goes on. You are not alone!! I am glad that I stumbled on this site so that I too may have an avenue to vent and bring forth any concerns during my recovery. Please feel free to vent yours anytime!!! By the sounds of it, we are all here for you when you need us. Take care of yourself...first and foremost!!!
Sending you lots of hugs....
