Post-op clothing

Hi. I've already bought 2 XXL drawstring scrub pants to wear post op. As I read how long the swelly belly may last, though, I'm thinking I should get something closer to an entirely new wardrobe!

Any post-op clothing hints?

Hi,

I had a couple of tracksuit pants with very light loose waist band that did just fine. I wear them most of the time, and have got into regular clothes a couple of times this last week when I needed to go out. Get more swollen during the evening, but not that much during the day. Just a little tender.

I didn't buy many new clothes after my tah/bso. I bought several pair of 2 size large cotten briefs ( so that the waist band wasn't on the incision ) and a couple pair of elastic waisted pants. I wore them with loose t-shirts. I also wore some loose jumper type dresses that I had. It all worked well and then I didn't have a lot of clothes that I couldn't use when i was healed. My swelly belly did eventually go away - even though it felt like forever sometimes

Best wishes.

I've bought a couple of pairs of drawstring tracksuits pants in a size larger than normal but that's it. I'm hoping that with a nice baggy t-shirt, they will do me until can wear normal stuff again.

The only thing I have purchased has been some cotton undies one size up.

Since my fibroids made me look about 4 month pregnant, there has been really no difference for me in actual waist size. I have just traded one for the other. Hopefully, there will be a payoff down the road with some reduction in waist size.

Regardless, having this surgery has been one of the smartest things I have ever done.

Sundresses - the answer to all of my problems! And of course some 2 size up undies. The dresses are great day or evening and only you know you are swollen and they always look nice and relaxed and neat. Good luck!

I did buy some draw string pants for post-op healing. A lot of my pants now are really loose also because my uterus is swollen out. Also, and this may sound messed up, but I borrowed some some maternity pants from a friend of mine. I borrowed the pants she wore in the first half of her pregnancy. It seems weird to wear maternity pants post-hyster, but at least it saved me some money.

I just wore my "fat" clothes. I didn't purchase anything.

Excellent question and great replies! Been wondering this myself! I'm breaking out my DH's huge Army t-shirts!

I did remember to buy a bunch of larger undies, so I'm good there--unless they end up not fitting somehow! I like the sundress idea. I'll have to go see if I can find any nice ones on sale, now that its August.

I think we're good in the t-shirt dept. Just need to make sure I have enough pants/dresses for afterwards.
