3 - hours in the "OR" normal..???

Had my pre-op yesterday..........things went very well.

My Doctor said I would be in the operating room for
approx. 3 hours..... .....seems like a
long time to me... She doesn't feel that I need any of the major repairs that I have read
about........just normal hyst. This doesn't include recovery room time..

She does have to repair a "Vaginal Vault" problem caused by the prolaps.

Just wondered if this Sounded NORMAL.??

I haven't had pre-op yet, but when discussing my options for prolapse, the dr said hyst would be @ 3 hours.

I had a TAH/BSO with removal of some lymph nodes and was in the Or for 4 hours. Three hours sounds like a fair assessment. Good luck to you!

Thanks Ladies..!!! I feel so much better.....just kinda threw me when she said 3 hours...... ugh. Now that I know others have had about the same, Makes a difference

No, Flutterbye..... Mine's in Indianapolis........I live in a tiny little back woods town in Southern Indiana......and drive 100 miles one way to see my Doctor..... I can only imagine the trip, at 4:00 a.m. after no food and bowel prep........on my way to surgery........Won't "I"
be Pleasant........lolol.

Doesn't seem to be very many Uterine prolaps issues mentioned since I
joined the board... Is your's very severe.. I am in stage 3, (cervix visible). She did tell me yesterday, Not to lift anything over 5 pounds for the first 3 months after surg. and then nothing over 20 for life..........To keep my bladder in place. Can you imagine...!!
I weighed a 2-liter bottle this morning....... 4 3/4 pounds ...SO...
guess I "Will" survive..........LOL.

Thanks again,
Gen

Hey Gen,
I remembered you saying you drove far to see a dr..I was just curious if you came this way or not.
No, not alot of prolapse people, and it makes it hard to relate. I have paid attention to your posts because we are similar. I am stage 3 also (and I swear it happened all of a sudden!). Tomorrow I have my urodynamic test (didn't you post about your experience????) I know I read someones , and I am not thrilled about it. And I think I might be getting more information regarding dates etc..and that makes me nervous too. I am ready. Hubby is freaked out by something "being there".
Did you say you're having abdominal? I have read some that say it can be done vag....but if it's better for repair, ab is fine.

It will drive me crazy to not be able to move my furniture around!!!!

I had my pre-op yesterday - Doc said between 2-3 hours...so sounds like I'm on the same track you are. When I had my kidney removed it was 12 hours! My achin' back!
