Long time no post...considering another doc and surgery

Hi all! It has been one horrible summer for me so I haven't had the heart to post. My younger brother died in June, DBF got bit by a spider in July and we've both had big time child support issues going on and our finances are a mess!!

ANYWAY, to say the least I've been stressed out to the max and it has had some physical reprecussions for me.....two bouts with the stomach flu and laryngitis that lasted nearly 2 weeks! Through all of this I have noticed my right SI joint is almost pain free as long as I stay on my meds !!! However, my left groin pain is ever present and only minimal relief with all the meds. I feel like adhesions have everything bound up and often it feels like a toothache running down my leg. I am to the point of considering looking for another GYN and submitting to another surgery to try and get some relief even if it is for a year or two as before.

My question is what should I look for in a new GYN???? Loved my last one as far as personality goes, but obviously she's not as "precise" in the surgery department as I need her to be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Hi Given your historic tendency to form adhesions, I'd consider either someone who specializes in adhesion surgery, or a gyn oncologist, who would posess the necessary skills (since removing extensive adhesions is a lot like removing cancer).

Sorry to hear you're still having so much pain.

Thanks Linda! My PM doc upped my Nuerontin to 300 -600 mg daily. Gonna try that for a bit and if I am still feeling the adhesions so much will be looking for a surgeon that can clean things up well.

Me again. After almost 3 weeks on the increased dose of Nuerontin, I'm almost certain another surgery is in store for me. I just feel like my whole left groin area is bunched up and I can't continue on like this. Not even able to able to lift my grandbaby any more. Will be discussing this with my PM doc at the Oct. appointment.

In the meantime, the world has continued to be a cruel and sad place for our family. A family friend was murdered a few weeks ago. Then my sister-in-law's father passed away on the 28th due to injuries he received in a car accident on the 18th. I am hoping this Labor Day weekend marks a brighter season for us.

Thanks for listening!

I wanted to say I am sorry for all your family is going through. Just one death is hard enough to get through, but multiple ones are just horrible. I hope things start looking up for your family.

As far as the surgery, I can relate. I am looking at another one as well and am not sure what "specialty" to go to---once everything is gone do you still see a Gyn? Urogyn? General surgeon?.....who knows! I have a long history of adhesions and suspect that is my problem as well. Then the really specialized docs never seem to take my insurance. It is all very frustrating. I hope you can find someone to help figure out what is going on!

Hugs
Becky
