3-week wall (cont.)

I just finished reading the previous notes about the "3 week wall". I had an LAVH almost three weeks ago and am having more new pain than I expected. It's good to know that's normal. Of course it could also be because my mom went home four days ago and now I have to get my own water, let the dog out, etc. plus I have returned to my office an hour or so...getting dressed and driving 3 miles is enough to wear me out! I am taking a little pain medication again, too, at night.

It has helped me psychologically to know everything's okay with my brand-new employee but then I come home and take drugs and rest, rest, rest. I'll start seeing a couple of patients tomorrow, probably easier than trying to straighten out stuff on the computer, sitting seems the worst.

I was told I could return part-time at three weeks, so I scheduled patients, but then I had a really bad constipation experience (are there any good ones?) which I feel set me back a week or so. I wish I had sick leave but at least when I'm off I'm really off, just lying down, napping, watching videos. Part-time for the next week or two, I promise!

Thanks again to all the women who have supported their hystersisters.

3-week wall (cont.)

Wow, Kerri, you are going back somewhat early ... but I'm very glad that your down time is truly DOWN time!

The LAVH sisters will find out that they still have basically the same internal stitches as the rest of us, and they start to "feel" all of that more as the stitches start dissolving. You can expect those sensations to continue for awhile, tapering off very slowly. Please continue to resume normal activities as slowly as you possibly can. Remember that prolonged sitting will put a lot of pressure on those healing areas.

My very best to you...

3-week wall (cont.)

Kerri,

I am also 3 weeks post op and thought the pain was behind me, but the last couple of days it has returned. I could be overdoing it as I am mostly taking care of the house and three dogs. The dogs can be scary as they want to sit in my lap and jump on me, right on my incision.

From what I have read, it is important not to overdo, so I'm listening more to my body and the pain.

Take care of yourself

Cheryl
