Compounded hormones, input needed
I need some input from those that are on biest and progesterone cream.
I have been on the Biest (capsules) from the moment my surgery was completed. I had a TAH/BSO and did not want to suffer the surgical menopause issues. Anyway... I have been on 1/4 tsp of progesterone cream every day for two weeks, then 2 weeks off. This has been just for the past month. I started my second two week round on this last Saturday. By Monday I was losing it! I felt like I was hit by a truck. Weak, fatigued, very moody and slight hot flashes and I have such a fuzzy brain. By Wednesday, I couldn't eat enough all day. I would eat all day long and never feel full! (I know bad idea...) I also started having headaches that only were relieved by wrapping my head in ice packs. Yesterday, anything and everything made me cry. I was a mess!!
I did call my Dr's office yesterday morning and wouldn't ya know it...He's on vacation for the week!!!
His nurse did talk with me and suggested that I stop the progesterone cream and then come in on Monday morning to see the Dr. This morning I woke up and emotionally I was better and through out the day until now, I feel like a cranky "B" and really uncaring, which is out of character for me. The headaches this morning were horrible again, but as the day goes on they have improved but not completly subsided. So it seems that maybe the Progesterone cream may have been the culprit. Do I need it? I can't remember why I asked my Dr. to put me on it in the first place. My memory is still so fuddled and non-exsistant at times. I hate it!
O.K... with all that said, please chime in and give me your opinons and or input as to if you went through any of this. I know that low estrogen can cause all of these symptoms and that it is still early in the HRT game to think that I am balanced yet. But, it would help to know that I am not going crazy. My recovery has been really wonderful. Nothing to really complain about. I took really good care of myself and stayed within the guidelines of suggestion on this site and by my Dr. It just helps to get some input on what you all have been through and that I am not losing it.
Thanks gals!

 Kathy,
Why did you stop the progesterone cream for two weeks? Cycling progesterone at this point is not a good idea. I am not surprised that you're having problems if you're trying to cycle the progesterone.
Another thing to keep in mind is that our hormonal needs can shift over time. The initial months post op are a time of change and for some of us finding balance during those months is difficult at best.
Were you feeling well with the progesterone before you did your two weeks off?
I highly recommend keeping a journal during these early months post op. It can really help to see what is going on and if things are getting better or worse over time.

Hi Kim...
I was cycling it because that is what my Dr. told me to do. I also can't remember how I felt when I took the prog. cream before. It's so frustrating not remembering. You are right tho...keeping a journal is a great idea. I am going to start it tonight.
Thanks for the quick input. I do appreciate you!
