How bad is a rectocele repair?

Hi Everyone,
Those of you that have had the rectocele repair, how bad is it???? I saw some videos on the internet that looked quite scary...Kind of like a really bad episotomy...I am not as concerned about the bladder repair issues

How bad is a rectocele repair?

I had a rectocele repair with my TVH and it hurt to sit for almost 5 weeks for me. I hardly had any pain from the hyst.
I sat on soft pillows and limited my time on the computer. Lounging was the most comfortable for me.
It helps to eat fiber, and drink a lot of fluids to keep you regular. It takes time and patience to heal, but it is worth it.

How bad is a rectocele repair?

I had my rectocele repair w/ my TVH. How come doc didn't repair rectocele w/ hyster? Not sure which pain was which, so I can't tell you how the rectocele pain was compared to the hyster. Good luck to you...going into surgery again so soon would not be my idea of a good time!

How bad is a rectocele repair?

Well, a rectocele repair does cause quite a lot of discomfort in recovery. It also took quite a while for me to be able to sit comfortably, but it is so worthwhile in the end when you have rid yourself of the unpleasant bowel issues that go with it.

How bad is a rectocele repair?

I had a rectocele repair a few months after my TVH and to me it was very uncomfortable. It's nothing you can't handle but I couldn't sit up for a while.I think it took me about 4 or 5 weeks to feel completely normal again. Now I have a Doctors appointment today to see if I need a cystocele repair. I'm hoping that isn't as bad but I'm afraid it is. I hope all goes well well with you and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
Lots of love
Tara

How bad is a rectocele repair?

Had rectocele & cystocele repairs both with TVH, dunno what was worst. It is painful but feel so much better inside now!!... haven't been able to get the BM issues handled though- now have to go to a GI doc to see why there are still so many probs in that area. You absolutely will need to keep the system going too cause constipation can eventually lead to repair failure- just a heads up on that. Good luck on it- kinda surprized they didn't fix that while they were in there with the hyst too.
