I Have a Stent & Can't Take HRT, Help...

Before the Dr knew she was gonna take my overies, she said she would NEVER under any circumstances give me HRT. She also told me no over the counter stuff. She's concerned about blood clots.

I'm not sure what options are available to me. I read about Black Cohosh and that it sometimes lowers your blood pressure. Mine is pretty low anyways. I wonder if it's an option?

Does anyone know of anything that will help me? Does anyone know any websites that have reliable info about herbs, etc?

Thanks,

I Have a Stent & Can't Take HRT, Help...

If you are having symptoms of menopause like hot flashes and mood swings there are medications that are given to women who have health issues that don't allow them to take herbs. They have given these women anti-depressants which regulate the body's core temperature and may bring down hot flashes as much as 65%.

Here is our hot flash cocktail that is suggested on our site:
400 IU vitamin e (mixed d-tocopherols)
500-600 mg calcium citrate with 400 IU vitamin d
200 mg magnesium citrate
500 mg vitamin c with bioflavonoids
Omega-3 fatty acids (equivalent of 360 mg DHA & 240 mg EPA)

You can read more about alternatives in our Resources library under the No-Hormone section to the left of the page.

Here is a link to black cohosh from our library:

I would read and research as much as possible on alternatives, and then go over what you have found with your dr.

this is the best website ever!! Read on and see that you are not alone! I thank god for finding this site; wish I found it sooner..would have saved me a lot of time and my sanity. We are all different and though not all doctors tell us what we need to know unless we ask, they are the ones that we rely on. This site saves time from going to the bookstore and searching websites and reading, reading, reading.... There are so many women trying different things and sharing our symptoms. I recently went off of everything.. Check out the NO HRT section and all of us who have gone Cold Turkey!! Good luck and god bless...
