LSH & Repairs

I'm really sorry if I'm posting too much, but I've looked for info by way of google and the resources available here and can't find what I'm looking for. It's very possible I'm just looking over it or whatever, but I had a question.

I will be talking to the doctor about specifics when I see him again, but I'm trying to find out as much info as I possibly can to be prepared.

Ok, I guess I have a couple of questions.

I know he's planning on an LSH. With cystocele and rectocele repair...he also said something about anterior and posterior walls....from reading, cystocele is 'sometimes referred to as anterior wall prolapse' and rectocele = posterior. I realize the doc could only give me that specific info regarding my situation, but is there a difference between cystocele and anterior wall repair (and rectocele/posterior)?

My other question is regarding repairs (this is the info i've tried to find to no avail)...he didn't say anything about synthetic materials (except for bladder sling)..he talked about shortening ligaments..so I've tried to find information about that procedure and can't find anything? Can anyone tell me about it or point me in the right direction?

Also, I read that when talking about resuspension (not hyst)...they say that the most effective (long-lasting) procedure is done abdominally. Why is this? And if I do go with a hysterectomy, will the repairs be just as good because he's planning on an LSH?

I'm really sorry for all of my questions...but this is consuming me and I have no one to talk to. I have looked for the information myself and can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I really appreciate everyone's help in previous posts and hopefully this one.

LSH & Repairs

Hi

You have some good questions. This link:Pelvic Organ Prolapse was helpful to me when I was doing my own research. Hopefully, it will help explain some basics until you get to talk to your doctor about the specifics.

Thinking of you & sending s,
Beth
