climara vs vivelle dots

I have been on 2 patches of the 0.1mg climara patches and find i need a little more as they wear off after 4-5 days. I have lost weight and I know this can alter my dose requirements.
I am in the process of trying the vivelle dots which give me bad stomache pains. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if this symptom might subside or if I shud just cut back dose or switch back to the climara patch. I would like to use the vivelle dots because they are smaller. Perhaps I will just have to see what happens with a little more time. I know this is very individual but I wonder if the side effects will subside.

Heather,
It is unusual to require two patches. It could very well be that your body does not absorb the patches well and that is why you are having to wear 2 patches. I know that wasn't your question, but the wearing of two patches just stood out to me.

The Climara and Vivelle are different. While both estradiol, one is made from soy and the other from yams. It can take some time to adjust when changing hrt. Are you using 2 of the vivelle dots? If so, maybe your body is absorbing that patch better so now you are getting too much estrogen. Just a thought.

If you're not wearing two patches of the Vivelle Dot, than I would think about talking with your doctor about a different method of delivery.
