bowel issues and cramping, 1 year post op

I had a Dr. visit today to follow up on low ferritin. All labs have returned to normal. I am feeling good but not perfect. I had TAH/BSO and it drastically has changed my bowel habits. I was never constipated before and now I must take Miralax 3 times a week and Metamucil daily to keep my hind end in good shape. If I don't, it feels like I am pooping glass and I bleed. I also have another curious complaint. On occasion I feel like I have menstrual cramping. I did not have any endo or adeno at the time of my surgery or ever that I am aware of. My ovaries are gone so it's an odd symptom. My MD was stumped also. She thought probably it was bowel related or possibly from the estring. Have any of you using estring experienced this? I am not using any HRT and I am tolerating hot flashes but had to resort to estring for the dryness.
All in all, I am glad to be rid of those parts they removed but it wasn't a piece of cake like so many told me it would be. Here it is almost my one year anniversary and I would say I am about 80% back to feeling human again.

Ditto on both for me. And I also don't know why. Funny you should mentioned it because I assumed that my constipation was a diabetes complication that just happened to appear after I had my surgery. I am taking something to facilitate digestion (Reglan), however, I need fibercon and miralax to go to the bathroom at all. I also get cramping at times despite having no uterus or ovaries. When I ask a doctor about this, they always seem completely perplexed as if I'm the first person in the world to report it. However, after reading these boards, I know that the cramping sensation is commonplace. I have heard nothing about long-lasting, painful, constipation until you mentioned it. If you learn anything, please post when you find out as I would love to know. Best of luck to you!
