Why does this bother me so much?

I had to call my docs office yesterday to ask about some pain I am having. I told the woman who answered the phone that I had my hysterectomy on 7/26 and I had pain etc. She said she would have a nurse call me about it. She put me on hold and when she came back to get my name and # she said, "So when did you have your baby?" It was such a crushing blow. I told her I had my uterus removed and she quickly said sorry and moved on. Am I just over-sensitive right now? Things like that bother me more than seeing pregnant women or meeting new little babies. I just wish people would think a little bit more and realize that women who have had hysterectomies need just the slighest bit more sympathy and attention. Or, maybe I should just lighten up!

It's ok to feel this way at present your hormones are all over the place. Sometimes we can all say senseless things without thinking and perhaps that was the case now, at least she apologised! I wish you all the best, hope your pain can be eased and that your recovery continues speedily.
