Anxiety level high today, hormones?

Hi there,
I'm having a tough day and thought I'd check in here and see if anyone else has been through this. I have had problems with anxiety and panic disorder for several years, but well controlled with medication. Yesterday my Climara patch came loose, so I taped it back on til I could call my Dr. Wasn't sure whether to replace it or not. Anyways, I couldn't sleep at all last night which is very unusual for me. I've been sleeping great up til now. Called the Dr.'s office this morning and they said to replace the patch, so I did. And now today I've noticed my anxiety level is really high. I'm so nervous and feel like I did back when I started having panic attacks. And I'm so scared about having them again that I just seem to make my nerves worse worrying about.
Do you think that maybe I wasn't getting enough hormones overnight and that has aggravated this? Does it take awhile for the new patch to kick it? I had my first patch on when I came out of surgery, so I've never had any menopause symptoms at all. Or am I just starting with anxiety problems again unrelated to hormones? Any thoughts or advice? I really can't deal with this right now. It took forever to find a medication that worked for my panic attacks and I can't bear the thought of going through that again. It was awful. Does anyone have a similar experience? Thanks, Teresa

Anxiety level high today, hormones?

Hi bundleofnerves, I had my T.A.H about a month ago...........aug 1st also due to endomitriosis,p.c.o.s and infertility. I have actually been on a horomone pill called enjuvia and I have been on it for about 6 months before the surgery because I was taking a shot called Lupron for endo. and it caused menopause symptoms( hot flashes, night sweats, change in moods etc) I also have struggled with sevral mental illnesses like bi-polar, anxiet attacks, borderline personality disorder. After my hysterectomy my horomones seemed fine at first and about 2 weeks ago I started having a real hard time sleeping witch I allready had before the hyst. and was on sleeping pills (ambien cr) witch worked fine before and the past couple weeks it didn't work at all. On top of that I noticed that I too felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack, actually I did have 2 and I also noticed I was either sad and wanted to cry all the time or I would be angry at my husband and everyone else so I went to see my doctor and he said that everyone usually experiences insomnia and can't sleep after a hyst. and that as far as my moodiness etc. he siad that it means I need more horomones but said that I have to wait because usually after a hyst. you'r horomones are trying to level out them selves and your body is trying to figure out what is going on. My doctor gave me a new sleeping pill called Trazadone that is also used to treat depression. It has really helped allot. I also had this week my horomone pills increased slightly I have also noticed a difference from this. This week emotionally I feel allot better than last week. Remember to take good care of your self, get lots of rest, and I would talk to your doctor that did the hyst. and tell him the problems you are having with the sleeping and anxiety. My personal opinion is that you are just recovering from a major surgery and you need to give yourself time to heal physcially and emotionally. My friends have told me that it usually takes a good 6 months to feel back to normal. So take that time to really spoil yourself. We ( histersisters) are always here for you. I hope you start to feel better soon.........love, angeleyes

Bundle I also have a history of anxiety and panic attacks. I had my surgery on the same day as you and I have had bouts of anxiety. I am not a control freak, however I think that having to let my family do a lot for me and not being right on top of what my kids are doing has contributed to the anxiety. I'm fine today, but I may not be tomorrow. Yes, it could be the hormones, but it could also just be one of the side effects of having major surgery. Hang in there!!!
