Anyone with info on ovarian cysts?
I went this week for a PET scan as an aggressive move to take a look at an ovarian cyst. My gyn/onc is very aggressive with his treatment and just wanted to rule out anything but a 'normal' cyst. Well, as it turns out, the scan showed 'increased movement' around the area of the cyst, so even though my doc says he highly doubts that this is a recurrance, he would feel better just taking the ovary out.
He said that we could wait about 6 weeks and redo the scan to see if the cyst is still there and then go from there.
I am scared out of my mind over this. I do not want to lose my remaining ovary and go into menapause at 35. There is rampant heart disease in my family and hrt scares me. I also do not want to take the chance that this could be cancer.
The tech that performed the scan explained the purpose of PET's. He told me that the radioactive sugar water that they inject prior to the scan will be first attacked by cancer cells or cells that are healing. So I have no idea if these cells that showed up on the cyst were a result of cancer or that the cyst is just healing.
I have two children who just started school this past week and I really don't want to have surgery again. This was the time last year of my original diagnosis and I had to rely on friends and family last year when it came to them.
I am petrified to find out what this is, I don't want to have to deal with cancer again. If it is a reaccurance, then the surgery that is part of the cure is major and life altering. I don't want to live my life that way.
Is there anyone who has dealt with this scare that can give me some reassurance that I could be blowing this all out of proportion? Please, anyone?

Anyone with info on ovarian cysts?
Hi. First of all . I certainly hope this isn't a recurrance for you. I had a TAH this past March, just 6 months ago, kept both ovaries. In mid July I started having alot of pain, that just keeps escalating. Had an US in Aug that showed 7 cysts on my right ovary. GYN gave me shot of depo provera in hopes of shrinking them, with the watch and wait 6 wks approach, it hasn't helped, it gets worse every day. I go back next Thurs for another US and a CA 125. I am very worried, cysts have so many of the same symptoms as OVCA, and I am scared of recurrance even though mine was only CIS to begin with. I had my hyster performed by a regular GYN, didn't even know a GYN/ONC existed till I found this site after my surgery, and I keep thinking "what if he missed somethinng?" I don't want another surgery either, can't really afford it, but this pain is killing me. I have recently began monitoring my temp, and it's been ranging from 99-100 every day for the past week. So the wait and cancerhead continues, UGH! Good Luck to you!
