Adrenals,Thyroid,Est,Prog,Test,I Need All Help
I NEED SUPPORT DESPERATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had hysto at age 27 in 1994,since its been a struggle,
so bad Im writing a book!!(honestly)
For years seeing drs for thyroid!meds work than stop!
Found great new dr found my adrenals were exhausted thats why thyroid meds dont do there job or temporarily.
Well Im on a baby dose if estradiol(.25mg)due to Interstitial Cystitis symptoms....other than that I would be ON NO HRT!!!!!!ya see had to bee off hrt until thyroid was corrected!never was corrected!!now dr treating adrenals with cortisol(cortef)low dose and armour thyroid.
My dr said had to balance Cortef and Armour first before balancing hrt that with adrenal and thyroid unbalanced hrt or hrt testing would be useless.
yet now not even 1 month on cortef w/ my armour
he wants to check hrt levels due to me not feeling better!!he didnt even give these two drugs a chance to adjust!!!!!!Im so mad!!Seeing him PRONTO!!!!!!!
Can taking hrt now be a bad idea with adrenals and thyroid outtawhack???He said so...Our plan was to adjust armour and cortef NEXT STEP ADDRESS EST,PROGEST,TEST!!!!!!
(Note; I shouldnt have told nurse no sex w/hus for 13 months due to dry thin tissues, lack of desire, starting to make me depressed...loose self-esteem...I told her Id be patient to wait for next step hrt,to correct adrenals and thyroid first...but I think she told dr....she really felt sad for me!BUT I WANT TO ADJUST THESE HORMONES THE CORRECT WAY!!!)
HELP!!!!!!!IM HAVING A BAD DAY!!!!!!!WAS TOLD HRT WONT TEST RITE OR METABOLIZE RITE WITHOUT ADEQUETE THYROID AND ADRENAL FUNCTIONING!NOW HE WANTS TO DO HORMONES!!
Sisters please help me!!How can I adjust ADRENALS,THYROID,ESTROGEN,PROGESTREONE,AND TESTOSTERONE???
I feel so alone!!!!!!Can this be done??ADJUST ALL 5 OF THESE HORMONES???THEY HAVE SIMILAR SYMPTOMS AND SIDE-EFFECTS!!!HOW CAN THIS BE DONE?? I never handled
any hrt well...due to hypo..now adrenal!!!!OH BOY!!
Need support...going to talk to this dr THIS WEEK!!!!!!
Thank You! Deedee 33yrs

((Deedee))
Your symptoms are going to be all over the place  and it's going to take some patience to get through this. But we are here (as always) and will try and help you through. I know you are tough - heck you've lasted this long and I know your'e not a quitter Unfortunately (and you probably don't want to hear this) your doc is right. You need to get the thyroid and adrenals sorted first. The adrenal glands will help supplement your HRT once you get them sorted (I'm not surprised they are exhausted after all you've been through). So step by step you will get there but doing it right this time will be the best way otherwise you may be strangled by vines for years to come.
Hugs and hang in there............ it won't be easy but it will be worth it in the long run.

adrenals
Deedee, how did you find out that your adrenal glands were exhausted? What tests were run? I think I have had some adrenal testing done, but don't remember what. I, too, have been unbalanced since my hyst 8 years ago. My thyroid tests have always come back normal.

The doctor probably doesn't know which to treat first since it's difficult to know which deficiency came first and what's causing what. He may feel that the Cortef and Armour should have shown some improvement in your symptoms for the month you took them. Because they did not, he wants to do the sex hormones next. I think it's a good approach. He seems to care about you but yet knows it's better to introduce a few hormones at a time than all at once. I don't know much about the adrenal hormones but I do know there are supplements and foods that help support the tired adrenals. You may talk with him about taking these supplements while you are on the other hormones. Something else to consider is to go on the diet that is supposed to minimize the yeast overgrowth in your body. Some women who are hypothyroid and take several rounds of antibiotics are at risk of this overgrowth. It's a very healthy diet (vegetables, grains, some fruits). I'll be glad to snail mail you information on it if you are interested. Also, there are some excellent books available that talk about it. It sounds to me like your immune system is not up to par and you will have to strengthen it through a healthy diet and supplements. See what your doctor thinks.

DeeDee. I'm so sorry for you. Listen to your doc. It sure sound like you can use some of the sex hormones.
I'll say a prayer for you - but glad to hear you're not ready to throw in the towel yet.

I have my ovaries, but this is not right...
HI, I had a TAH 2 months ago, I thought everything was going relatively smooth when all of a sudden, I can't sleep, (my bedtime now is anywhere from 2 to 3:30 am), I have no libido, and my breasts ache all the time. I found out a few years ago now that I have a growth on my adrenal gland. The endocrinologist didn't want to mess with it then, but he did mention that my cortisol was too high, I'm wondering if this is a factor in how I am now? I had some blood tests done last week for my hormone levels. I am happy otherwise.

Adrenals,Thyroid,Est,Prog,Test,I Need All Help
Good for you, hanging in there, trying...
I got on this site, and it took me over a month to get up the courage to ask my (former) doc to test my hormones - his office staff said that they don't "mess with that stuff!" The next doc did check my hormones and who would believe it: my progesterone was so sky high, estrogen so low... I guess we'll see how things go. The thing was, she walked in and said "you're too young to have all of this wrong with you." I immediately froze up and didn't tell her some of the stuff I should have. I didn't want to be seen as some nut, which is what my former doc thought I was, with headaches and insomnia, asking for hormone testing. I've already posted a message today about pain where it seems like an ovary was 2 years ago - what's that about anyway - so I guess I'll have to tell this doctor something and take my chances. Here's my hormone question: My test results were compared to the levels of a "normal postmenopausal woman." I think of a normal postmenopausal woman, though, and I think of someone older than my mother: I turned 34 this weekend and chase my toddlers around. Is this the right comparison? Please forgive me if I sound mean about that, I'm just frustrated...

Bethany - Cortisol can cause so many problems. I think I would really try to deal with that issue and the adrenal problem.
I can't take regular doses of progesterone - but I do find that it helps me with insomnia and also eases the breast pain. It sound like you can use a dose of estrogen and progesterone. Be persistant with your doc.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Cass,
Do you want to make a seperate post and I'll try and address your issues. Have you had a hysterectomy? Even if you have not and you are in the post menopausal range it needs addressing. Just go to the HJ message page and post a new topic.
