losing hair Please help!!!!

Okay I'm getting really sick of all this crazy stuff happening to me since my hysterectomy. My hair seem to be coming out a little more than usual and it's starting to scare me. Also I'm getting facial hair. I'm only 30 yrs old. Is this the hormones I'm on? Too much or too little? I'm on a compound cream est/proges/testosterone mixture. Is anyone else having these symptoms. I feel like an ugly old lady!!!!!! I'm too young for all of this. What do I do?

I'm having the same problem and I'm one year post op. I'm going to my doctor on Monday to see what it could be. I've always had very thick hair and it is receding and thinning badly! I hope someone else on here can give advice.

Sorry your having a tough time. Sounds like your out of balance. You said your using a cream that contains all three hormones. I think the only way to find which one is causing the problem is to use each one separatley.
I'm sure one of the ladies here that are more knowledgeable will be along soon to help you out.

Facial hair is generally caused by testosterone. I realize that the link with dht is reportedly caused by methyltestosterone but I know for a fact that my facial hair started after begining on natural testosterone. You really should have all your hormones seperated. Its easier to adjust things when necessary.

Like SweetRyn said, facial hair is generally caused by testosterone. I had testosterone added to my HRT and had the same problem. Since it didn't help me, I had the testosterone stopped and the facial hair got better. It didn't go away but isn't near as bad. As for the thinning hair, I added progesterone to my HRT. It helped out a lot. As the others suggested, I'd seperate your hormones to see what adjustments you need to make. Maybe you need to increase your progesterone? Just a suggestion.

Thanks all, I had the testosterone removed from my compound cream today. The pharmacist said the hair loss is from the testosterone too. I don't know? I'm so confused. Like i said before i think they are guessing and using me as their little project to test things on!!! Not cool!!

Shellsong,
Too much testosterone can cause the facial hair and hair loss. Try your new HRT for a few weeks to see if the hair loss stops. If it doesn't you may need to increase your progesterone.
I don't think any of us get to a certain age and then find all this junk acceptable. I'm 44 and plan on fighting this aging process for the rest of my life. But your right that 30 is way too young to have to start dealing with it. Hope you find your happy balance.

Hold on a minute, ladies! Facial hair and thinning hair on your head are ALSO symptoms of menopause. My understanding is that the really fine facial hair is low-estrogen related, and the heavier dark hair is excess testosterone related. I do agree that it's good to separate your hormones so that you can adjust them. Common sense tells me that if you have facial hair and thinning hair on your head and it's caused by excess testosterone, you would have some of the other testosterone symptoms. Just my humble observation!

I've been experiencing the same problem already - it's been about 4 weeks and I've notice more hair on face and less on head where it belongs - I'll be sure to let my MD know at next visit - glad to know where it comes from, I thought I was making it up (in my head and was over-noticing everything kind of thing)...
