Ovulation / Mini Periods Question

Hi all. I had LSH on Aug. 29th and doing pretty good so far. I see the doc next week for a complete exam. I have been on birth control pills for many years so my periods were always very regular and I never needed a calendar! I also never got PMS. After surgery, I had no post op bleeding at all and still don't. My first question is, how do I know if and when my ovaries are working? How will I know when I'm ovulating? Also, since my trouble began (in January), my period basically didn't stop. I bled pretty much from January right up til surgery. So I have no idea when my "normal" period would come now. I'm concerned about "mini periods" so I keep using a liner just in case. How long after surgery do you think it's safe to assume I won't get them? I figured after a month or two, if I don't get a mini period I probably won't. Is it possible to not have them and then begin?
