LSHr's-Goodbye Maxi-Period, Hello Mini-Period

I'm grateful that I had my LSH but feeling a little discouraged now. I'm 5 months out and started having mini periods today. Yes, I was told by my GYN it was a risk but did not think that This Time I would be in that 7% minority. I also had a cyst on my ovary last month that ruptured and was quite painful in addition to having hot flashes that started about 2 months ago, both which suggest to my GYN that I am in peri-menopause. She said it is all like a motor sputtering to get started! Have any of you started out well post surgically, thinking you were "scott free" and then started having some difficulties?

I also thought I was "scott free" for a full year postop, then had problems. My situation is much different than yours, however. I hope that someone who's had your experience will come along soon and share. I think you will find you have much in common.

Take care..................s.....Deb

Doyousubaru - I had my LSH on 7/18/06 - came home same day, no problems, back to work in 3 weeks, recovered beautifully....then this week I noticed that I felt bloated and ugh!, had the beginning of a migraine yesterday - took some med and it went away. I've been craving salt and chocolate all week - well this morning I woke up, went to the bathroom and had a little pink tint on the t-paper. I wore a pantiliner and by the time I got to work, I had about the size of a pencil eraser spot on the pad. I'm hoping this will be it for the mini-period (if that's what it is). I kept my cervix and ovaries but was hoping that I would not be one of those people who had these. My dr. did cauterize my cervix during surgery. I'm still trying to figure out my body right now. Good luck to you!

Thank you for your feedback. My spotting lasted 1 day thank goodness but my GYN said to expect it every month :0). Mine was also when I would have had my regular period. Mine ran the same course as yours (ie., first on toilet paper. Believe me, after 5 months thinking I'd beat the odds it was quite a shock. I had a few candy bars that day :0( Still, if it stays as light as it was, I can live with that. I asked my GYN if she could go in and cauterize more of my cervix and she said that tends not to be very successful. she said removing it all together comes with its risks, esp because I have never had children.
