Had the pre-admit today!

Today was my pre-admittance appointment. You know, the one where they take your vitals, an EKG, a chest x-ray, blood test and so on and so forth. I was all prepared with all of my questions answered and recieved all of my instructions for my day before surgery, which will be on Thursday. I had alot of fun with it. My mom went so she could help me remember everything they told me and we cut up with the nurse doing the pre-admit, the anesthesiologist and the different techs. One guy came in and said we were having way to much fun in here. I have always dealt with stressful moments by becoming a stand up comedian and it has really helped me through. It puts alot of others at their ease too. I take things seriously but always with a little levity. It helps.

Good for you! I am no comedian, but I find it definitely relieves stress if you can find something to laugh about! Even is the most stressful times, I always find some small thing to lighten my mood even if it doesn't help those around me!

I have mine tomorrow. Interesting to hear what all is involved.

I hope mine is as lighthearted.

Way to go! I like to find humor in things too. Otherwise, I just can't stand it all!!

Hooray for you!! I'm convinced that a positive attitude has helped me have an uneventful recovery so far. And I went into surgery with no stress. I had a wonderful surgeon. And at my hospital pre-op the nurse practitioner and I discovered we have the same birthday so we talked for about 30 minutes. I'm sure everyone was wondering what took so long.
