too young for this

hi all.
i had my total ab. hyster at 29 yrs. old in march 2004 for endo, extremely debilitating periods, and strong family history, cystic ovaries, inflamed uterus. for these last 2 years everything has been great. nothing had changed as a result of my surgery except i am no longer in pain. i would read about all the post op probs and not quite understand because my experience had been such a positive one. well, within that 2 years we moved to different state, so a new doctor. she apparently uses the 2 year mark as a cutoff as far as hormones go. right out of surgery previous doc put me on .9 premarin. he later lowered it to .625. everything great. new doc started taking me off premarin. she did it over a months time.so, i stayed off for about 2 1/2 months. all the while taking black cohosh and a few other supplements. hot flashes came on with a vengeance. had to go back 2 weeks ago. things dramatically changed. dryness-especially vagina but also my entire body. i would hurt and faintly spot after intercourse. so she prescribed premarin at .3 this time. says i can be on it until after the holidays then she will try to take me off again. i am very concerned. i have been married for 13 years. never had a problem. i have always been inhibitive (sp?)in that department but never a problem as far as desire or response. will the dryness eventually get better being back on the premarin? also the little things-like i used to get goosebumps EVERY time hubby touched me, in nonsexual ways, now, nothing. i love him dearly. no less than before. i know i still want him just as before but it just doesn't feel the same. takes me longer to orgasm and a lot less intense. will these clear up? or am i done for and should have left well enough alone?
thanks

too young for this

Hi

You are right....you are far too young to be going through this. The symptoms you are describing after going off of your estrogen replacement are typical symptoms of low estrogen. If you were doing well on the prescribed dosage of Premarin that your previous doc prescribed, then I would be insistent with your new doctor that that is what has worked for you, and let him/her know the symptoms you are now suffering.

I believe in the saying.... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'm not sure why your new doctor thinks you should go off of what has obviousIy worked for you. We need those hormones that our ovaries used to make....as it impacts our sense of well-being, healthy skin (including vaginal tissue) and certainly sexual matters. I would encourage you to seek out a new doctor if the present one is insistent on weaning you off of hormone replacement after the holidays. You are far too young to be going without and having to deal with the subsequent symptoms that you are experiencing.

I'll bet you will notice significant improvement in resuming Premarin, since that is what has worked for you.
