This is awful!

Two weeks ago I got sick......sore throat with white spots, earache, sinus drainage, mild dry cough....you know upper resp, but tested neg. for step. The doctor put me on z-pack, which is for five days, so I took the last dose a week ago today. I was feeling better....no more white spots on the throat, etc.

Now, last night my ear and throat started hurting again and are feeling worse today......hoping it is allergies or something.

My pre-op is Monday and my surgery is Tuesday. I have everything set and sched with all my help. This stinks!!!! Looks like a possible reschedule. Can't do anything until Mon pre-op now.

This is awful!

I'm kind of in the same boat. Got antibiotics a week ago today. Finished them Monday. I have no nasal congestion and can breathe fine without coughing. But still have sinus drainage and sometimes have to cough to clear the throat. But the doc didn't think it was a problem during my pre-op Monday.

I sure hope you don't have to reschedule. It's not fun waiting longer. I was on a z-pak too for my bronchitis. I am feeling better to go Monday. You should be ok. It could be allergies. Mine should start from the goldenroad any day now. I hope it don't start now.

Make sure you get plenty of rest over the weekend. As long as you aren't running a fever they may do the surgery still. Rest and see where you are on Monday and plan for there.

I pray it gets better over the weekend.

Hugs

This is awful!

Gordonk -

I had a little of that when I went in and was 'dry' in recovery. I did the second day ask for a zertec as it was coming back a bit and that took care of it.

I coughed 6 to 8 times in the first week, it really burns. You can't really worry about it, its gonna happen if its gonna happen but if its coming on, try to get a pillow firmly to your incision.

The odd 'wonderful thing' is the first time you cough .... and it doesn't hurt. I think that was about a week out but it was like a I don't know milestone or something.

Rest well and I am sure your surgery will proceed as planned.

This is awful!

I am in the same boat. I have a sinus infection. I am also on a z-pack. My doctor called me today and said as long as I look good and feel good he will do the surgery. This is my third day of the z-pack and I am starting to feel better. Call your doctor right away and get him to call something in for you. Try to get ahead of it. Take zinc and vitamin c also. We have the same surgery date we will make it to the castle!!!! Gook Luck and God Bless

Julie, thanks for the info. I am pretty dry as far as eveything goes -- just sinus drainage. I'm optimistic it will be ok. I'll think of you as I cough post-op... I think that coughing without pain would be a big milestone!!!!
