Is this normal, or am I going nuts??

Ok, so I need to know if I am going crazy or if this is happening to any other hyster sisters out there! My skin is incredibly itching. It is not dry or anything, but it feels like I have little bugs crawling all over me!
My DH says it is prickly heat caused by my hot flashes, but I don't know. I itch constantly, and I do bathe everyday! So please tell me this is normal for surgically induced menopause, or am I really going insane? Thanks for any and for all advice that can be given Have a great day, and don't forget to smile and laugh, it really does help!

I'm sorry about the irritating itch! I have a similar symptom when my thyroid is not balanced. Have you seen an endocrinologist to have your thyroid checked?

Hi You're not going nuts. It's called formication because it feels like ants are crawling around on or under your skin (forma is Latin for ant), and it's a symptom of menopause.

Has your DR prescribed anything at all for your menopausal symptoms? I saw in a previous post that you had a history of endo and cancer, I think... but there are non-hormonal meds that might help with your symptoms if you can't use HRT's. I've moved your post over here to our No-Hormone Desert Oasis forum, where you'll find other ladies who are managing their symptoms without HRT's.

Hang in there!

Well I thought I was going nuts also with the itchy skin. I thought perhaps it was due to lack of moisture but lotions don't help either. I didn't know the cause was directly from menopause. Another great joy from surgically enduced menopause.

Any one found any relief from the symptoms. I cannot take HRT due to breast cancer that is estrogren sensitive.
