"Impressive" as my dd put it

Well this is not to brag or be the winner infact i wish the opposite but I have a fibroid that is 20cm. (9inches) diameter and weighs approx. 9 lbs. It's bad for surgery because it means vertical incision and lots of blood loss due to uterus size, length of being under anesthesia, etc. but I did not have any heavy or painful period. Other major health problems make me a higher risk for big surgery so I hope I've made the right decision. I'm going in June 4 & I don't mind saying I'm afraid but I'm also scared to leave a thing this big inside of me pressing on the bladder & bowel, etc.

"Impressive" as my dd put it

Hi Elsie...

I have you beat, girl....mine was 27 cm. The good thing was that it turned out to be long and narrow, so I was able to have a horizontal incision after all.

They may be able to section it and take it out that way...but please don't get too worried about the vertical v. horizontal thing...from everything I've learned here, one isn't all that much different from the other.

I don't know what kinds of other health issues you have, but I know that surgical technique now is really advanced, and it's just amazing how skilled our doctors are at getting in, getting what they have to get OUT, and getting closing us up. I'm sure you will be monitored every second, your doctors will be on top of any complications due to your condition, and you'll be ok.

My surgery was three hours instead of 1 1/2, and I did lose some blood, but it turned out fine. I'm 11 weeks post op and I haven't felt so good in years. We'll get you through this...hang in there!!!
