high estrogen levels

hi, does anybody know what causes high levels of estrogen. I have an enlarged ovary and swelling and lumps in the breast. Doc thinks it is cysts caused by to much estrogen. Going for blood test and ultrasounds. Had hysterectomy almost 3 years ago. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks so much!

high estrogen levels

Hi Suzanne
This is a good question. I have wondered it myself. Before my surgery I was very estrogen dominant which caused heavy bleeding. I've read some on it and have found that in perimenopausal women it can be caused by a decrease in progesterone causing the estrogen to go unchecked. Here is an article that explains it well you might find helpful. http://www.nice2people.com/sellman/hormone-heresy3.htm
There may be other reasons I'm not aware of ,but this is one.
