How long does it take to leave your system??

Just a quick question! I have been taking 100 mg of prometrium at bedtime for about 6 weeks now but have had difficulty with constipation. I am having my levels checked, via blood tests, on Saturday. After the blood work, I plan on stopping the prometrium altogether before I explode!! ( My doctor doesn't think I should be on it anyway.) Anyone know how long it takes before all the hormone from the pill is out of my system?? Any advice would be appreciated.

In general, progesterone can build up in your tissues and can take a while to completely leave your body. I'd say you would have to give it at least several days and maybe longer, though your levels would drop substantially in the first couple of days.

Is there a reason you don't cut your dosage of progesterone, rather than stop it completely? What was the reason you started taking it in the first place?

How long does it take to leave your system??

I started taking it due to bloating and water retention from the estrogen. Dr. thought I should try prometrium first, as I had read that it was a natural diruetic(?). Wanted me to try it for a month and then it that didn't work, he gave me a prescription for an actual water pill. The prometrium has done a little for the water retention but the bowel issue is bigger!!! Still get nauseous from it and have a really hard time in the morning getting up. Think I will move on to step 2 as above and see how that works.
Thanks.
