19 weeks, am I the only one?

My hyster. was in July. I am still so tired like the rest of you. I had had some allergy reactions that have also led to a blood test including thyroid. More then the TSH. Mine is so high. This could also be reason for being tired. So many other symptoms also go with thyroid. So I do not know which is from which. The operation or the thyroid. Has anyone expereinced this. I just got the results this week and am waiting to see the doctor end of this month.

19 weeks, am I the only one?

Janet,
I too have soreness under my belly button. I had adhesions there from my previous lap surgery to remove previous adhesions. I really don't have a lot of confidence in our docs regarding post op intelligence. My doc acted like I was being ridiculous & faking that I was still in pretty bad pain at my 5 wk post op check up.

Folky,
I have applied for the program my hospital has for low income people. Still waiting on an answer. They had to wait until I was turned down for Medicaid. Medicaid really makes me angry. I'm a taxpayer who ran into hard times, but I can't get help. But they sure will let me pay for the drug addicts & baby machines to get their healthcare. gggrrr. My doc had originally told me he would give me a 20% discount for being self pay if medicaid turned me down. However, the bill is 3 times what he told me his part would be & 2 other docs have added fees. I was never asked permission or warned that other docs would be assisting & billing me. Not only did the bill triple, he has yet to give me the discount or give me credit for the $1100 I paid down, that I borrowed. He showed me at the post op that he doesn't care what questions I have or what pain I have, I'm sure not going to rack up another bill to go to him when I'm probably just experiencing normal healing. Guess I went off on a bit of a tangent there, sorry.

As always, my hyster sisters have put my mind at ease. Thank you!!!!

Ya know, a lot of us have this same impression... we want to be kind and compassionate, but ... if it looks like a duck, smells like a duck, and quacks like a duck ...it's a DUCK! It was explained to me by a SS worker that yes many of the patients are "scum of the earth" (I am paraphrasing) but along with their drug and drinking habits have picked up other diseases like hepatitis, cirrhosis, and std's which qualify them for immediate help... a service to the poor regardless of some individual's lousy habits.

Keep trying for the assistance. Since you have been a tax payer and contributing member of society, you deserve it! They can make you jump through hoops! Hang in there! I am self employed, and with very little income. I qualify for county help, which is worth it for the big picture.

The system is messed up! For example, they do not deduct or consider your grocery bill as an expense, even for your needed staples! It is calculated as a "luxury" and is part of your income! Also, if you pay for NEEDED dental work, and you pay for it out of your own pocket, they consider that to be extra income as well, and don't deduct it out of your expenses. THe way that ends up is that you are out the amount of money for the cost of the dental work, and they add it to your income amount, which raises your share of medical costs... so, you can end up paying double for the actual dental work! (All the county will cover/recognize is if you go to the county facility and have your teeth pulled out, not fixed!) Something very wrong with this picture!

But again, hang in there. For the big ticket items you will be glad you have some help. Good luck!

you are not alone

Hello,
A friend of mine told me her sister had a TAH and it was 3 months before she could even vacuum, & it took even longer for her to get back to driving. So as that's not my personal experience, I thought that might help you a little to know that you are not alone. You may be a slow healer, like me! Hope you feel better soon, just rest when you need to, and remember that there's no exact time frame to be "all better". I know you want to feel better sooner than later, but you can't rush your bodys healing process. Everyone is different. Sincerely, Cohl

19 weeks, am I the only one?

Folky, funny, I have hepatitis B & it didn't help me any with the powers that be. That reminds me, everyone PLEASE get your hepatitis vaccination, no matter how much you trust your partner!!!! I never was informed that there was a vaccine until I was diagnosed with it. I think that should be required disclosure.

Cohl,
I still avoid vaccuuming like the plague. I think I have vaccuumed 3 times since surgery. I only have carpet in 2 rooms & I can sweep just fine, thank goodness. Mopping is a different story. I still won't try to carry a bucket of water. I spray cleaner on the floor & get a wet towel & scoot it around with my feet, lol.

Thanks to all of you for your input, it really does ease my anxiety. It's just so frustrating. I want to move on with my life & my body isn't cooperating. I need to move out of a rickety house, want to avoid another winter of $300 utility bills even though I only keep the house at 50 degrees. I try to get a head start on packing stuff up & it just knocks me out to do the least little bit of work. I'm tired of feeling old & broken at 36. This too shall pass.

You are not alone girls....I too get really tired at the end of the day. Hubby finds me snoring on the bed after i get home from work, it's usually just a 1/2 cat nap, just enough to muster some energy up to make dinner.Never ever thought I could cork off that fast during the day.Just another reminder that I'm getting old.Yikes .LOL.Just wished i could do that at bed time...when I can't seem to fall asleep and just seem to toss and turn.Belly still will swell and will be sore when i run around and over do, but heck all in all, much rather deal with this stuff then the stuff I had to deal with before surgery. Still it's good to hear that I'm not the only one going through this. Consider us lucky..we are half way to recovery..just think if we had to start all over again!!!
Hugs To All

I have been experiencing pain in the 'triangle' zone, esp on the right side, along with a slight temp elevation (99 to 100). Went to the doc yesterday, and oh lucky me, I have an infection in the 'cuff' (where the vagina is sewn up). I just went back to work on Monday and am off at least today, maybe longer depending on how I heal. Did your doc check for infection, or are you on antibiotics?

Mia Culpa! I am sorry if this sounded like I said all people with these diseases are "scum." I try try very hard to word things "correctly." I didn't mean it to sound so horribly offensive! I know better! Hopefully you know what I meant as well!? I still do propose that there are some low-life people who know how to manipulate the system, and innocent others who fall thru the cracks. Best to ya!

Not ALL people are bad or sleep with others if they have HepatitsB. My dad had it in his old age and he DID NOT sleep around or use drugs. Believe me I know.!!! They are not sure how he got it. He traveled with my mom in the US States and they think that he either got it from bad water, or a dentist. Never proven. But this I know for a fact he was a great guy and never ever slept around. We all did get the shots and I do recommend them because you never know where you may pick up this disease.
