BM problems after surgery
Hey ladies. I had my hysterectomy last year with pelvic prolapse repairs. Well, I just had my 2nd pelvic prolapse repairs, Sept. 19th and I am having severe issues with bm's. I am taking miralax and mineral oil everyday to avoid constipation. Well, everyday after lunch the urge to go kicks in...well, I can't push the bm out. It is like my muscles don't work. I can pull up, but not down. So, I pace around, insert a suppository, pace some more, then insert a different suppository, a ducolax suppository, then pace some more, maybe go a little bit more, then pace some more....this goes on and on. Finally, I have to resort to manually removing the stool from my rectum. Sorry TMI...has anyone else experienced this? I am going to see my doctor next week for a 4 week check up and will tell him about my problems, but I am so miserable. The pooping takes hours out of my day everyday and I just don't understand why I can't push it out of my rectum. I am still VERY sore from the surgery. My rectum feels like I just had hemmroid surgery. Please, anyone with any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Tracy

BM problems after surgery
Hey Tracy ~ I feel so bad for you and am so sorry you are going through this. I had colo-rectal surgery with internal/external repair about 8 years ago and my LAVH with anterior repair Sept 25. The LAVH was a cakewalk compared to the c-r surgery. I had BM troubles after the c-r... my doc said if I didn't go by Day 5 to let him know. So of course, swollen so bad and cramping and all the sutures... I couldn't. So the doc told me to get 2 Fleet enemas, lube the tips, and use them... I laid on the cold bathroom floor sweating buckets for a while until I had the strength to do those 2 enemas. I think it was the worse I had ever in my life felt. I continued to have more problems just not as severe for about a week. Sadly, the doc retired Oct 1 so any future problems I have will require getting reacquainted with a new doc!
Have you seen a colo-rectal specialist for your problem? If not, can your doc refer you just for a consult?
Best wishes ~

I used to get that way when I was pregnant. Prune juice does work, but only drink a little bit at a time. hope you feel better soon.
