Swelly Belly Band Question

I am scheduled for a LAVH & BSO with a huge possibility of having to convert to an open surgery. Can I use the swelly belly band for either surgery or is that basically for just the open. I am hoping to avoid the later, but I have had a previous TRAM flap breast reconstruction so I have huge amounts of scar tissue that may prevent the LAVH. I don't want to get a swelly belly band if my doc can pull off the LAVH or maybe some of you can tell me if I can use it for either surgery.

I think that it's mainly to help relieve the itching and swelling of incisions. If you think that you have a good possibility of an abdominal incision, it might be worth it to get one and be prepared. I use cool packs for lots of other things from time to time ( like a swollen knee & on my lower back ).

Someone on here had suggested freezing a wet towel - like a dish towel or thin hand towel - in a bag and she used that. I'm going to try something homemade myself.
This might be an economical option for you. If you end up with a TAH, you could have someone order the Swelly Belly Band for you and it would probably be at your home before you anyway!

I asked for one at the hospital, and I received it the same day. It made me feel more secure as I was coughing, walking, pretty much everything.

I think it will make you feel better, whether you have an open incision or not. Good luck!
