General Pre-op advice for LAVH
I am 25 and I am having a LAVH with both overies removed on Oct 30th. All the information I have found on this site is wonderful. I am very nervous with the date drawing so close. Has anyone had this done that can share some tips with me. Also, I am planning a trip for Christmas to Minnesota (5 hour drive) will I be up for that? Husband is being very supportive, but would like to take 5 days off to go hunting 3 weeks post-op. Will I be okay by myself for the 5 days, or should I tell him not to go. Hunting means the world to him. Any and all advice is welcome. Please don't spare me even the bad stuff. I like to be prepared.

General Pre-op advice for LAVH
I had my LAVH 4 weeks ago today, and I can say it has been nothing like I thought it would be. I haven't had a lot of pain, I feel pretty good other than just being tired unless I overdo it, then I get a little sore and have a little bleeding, but nothing major at all. I would say that in the castle you just need to stay on top of the pain, don't let it get bad before you ask for something, make sure to get up and walk that will not only make you feel better, but it does help get that dreaded gas moving some. I was up walking the next morning as soon as they removed the catheter, the packing, and the IV. I felt so much better after that. And as for your hubby leaving, I would say as long as you have someone that can help you out you would probaly be ok. I stay home by myself everyday, and my hubby is not a lot of help anyway, so.......I think as long as you are feeling ok and you don't have any problems that if you are comfortable w/ him going it should be fine. But that is something the 2 of you should really discuss, and make sure that there is a friend or relative that can help you out if you need help.
Hope this helps a little, and good luck to you!!

Also, your trip at Christmas I would think would be ok. That's almost 2 months post-op. I went for and hour and a half ride 10 days post-op and did fine. On the way home I was ready to be home, but 2 months I don't think I'd have a problem. Again, it will depend on how you feel!!!

General Pre-op advice for LAVH
I had a LAVH and my Mom and Dad stayed 2 weeks post-op to help out (my DH is a rancher so lots of work to do outside). The 2 weeks was great, and after that I was able to do most simple stuff at home myself, although I did get very, very tired if I over did it. My DH helped with the grocery shopping, because that really wore me out.
But if you are stocked up on groceries, and don't need to do much of anything, then I think it would work for your DH to go hunting.

General Pre-op advice for LAVH
When I was 11 days post-op, I had to make a 16 hour round-trip ride over 3 days because of a funeral. I had no problems whatsoever with the trip. I wasn't driving but nonetheless, it was very do-able for me. I have had no complications from the surgery and my recovery has been easy. Once you get past the first week (the first BM) it's usually smooth sailing as long as you don't overdo it.
As for DH going hunting at 3 weeks, there are lots of us here who are single during the week because our DH's are on the road. After the first couple of days, my DH was feeling pretty useless anyhow. So by the 2nd week, I was sending him out frequently to avoid him having cabin fever too!
Hope this info helps! Best wishes ~

General Pre-op advice for LAVH
Dear Angie,
By the time you take this trip, you'll be nearly 2 months post op. By 6 to 8 weeks post op most women are pretty much back to their normal routines, so I think you should be okay. If you have any doubt, you can always ask your doctor.
