Do I still have a cycle???

Hi ladies: I am 4 weeks post=op today and feel fantastic My only complaint is that I have this ridge of fat that hangs over my happy-face incision. My energy level is very good, almost better than how I felt with my uterus in and acting up so badly. I am glad to be free of it; it was almost poison to my system it seemed.

Anyways, during my "past" cycle, I used to get extremely sore breasts before my period, usually at ovulation time and had to suffer for two weeks until my period arrived. I have not had any breast soreness. Does that mean I am not ovulating? I kept both my ovaries (thank goodness). Are things still a bit mixed up in there and I am not ovulating? Or am I not going to get the sore breasts anymore. Wouldn't that be a treat!!

Do I still have a cycle???

Hi Catherine,

It has been almost 6 months since my surgery, I also had a TAH and kept both ovaries.

I've read that sometimes the ovaries may shut down for a bit after the surgery from the cut of blood supply but usually start working again.

Two weeks after my surgery was the time that I should have gotten my period. I still ovulate and it feels like I am going to get my period, I even get my monthly break-out on my nose & chin (I hate that part) and I certainly am still moody right before that time, call me silly but I still keep track, and am very aware because that's a great sign me that my ovaries are still working, Thank God!!

Good Luck and take care!!

Do I still have a cycle???

Hi Catherine4
I am 4 weeks post op and I also have that ridge of fat that hangs over too. I hate it I hope it goes away soon, I also get the swelly belly by evening. Im feeling pretty good, Im still sore to the touch and numb, but Im also just plain sore. Im hoping in the next 2 weeks that will go. I had sore breasts 2 weeks after surgery(I also kept my overies) so Ill have to wait and see if that continues. Ive been very emotional though lately, my daughter and sons school programs ive been fighting back the tears, I hope my ovaries are OK. Well hang in there. Enjoy your summer.

Do I still have a cycle???

I had a TAH last July and kept both ovaries. They didn't "kick in" until the end of September. Now everything is fine. I get slightly sore breast (nothing compared to what I got before the hysterectomy) and I can tell that I'm ovulating. But, they did take a while to kick in.

Hope this helps

Do I still have a cycle???

I had my TVH on the 26th of April. Kept both ovaries. My cycles must be still working because I just ovulated 1 week ago. The reason I know this is because I would experience terrible pain for a good 12 hours when I would hit mid cycle before I had my surgery. I experienced the same pain just last week but it didn't last as long. I also still experience the acne on my face and slight mood swings. I am now wondering if I should of had my ovaries removed. They are healthy but I can't stand the pain or the mood swings. I really thought this would of improved some what after the surgery. But I guess I was wrong. Maybe there is some kind of hormone drug I can take to level me out.

Do I still have a cycle???

Be patient in regard to the belly. In my case, what I called my "Buddah Belly" finally went down to normal for me at about 12 weeks post-op (TAH/BSO).
