Appetite?!?!

Hello-had a TVH on 10-16-I have NO appetite at all-I eat to keep up my strength-How long has this lasted for any of you post-op'ers? Thanks

For me it lasted about 8 to 10 weeks. My appetite really has never returned to what it was. I've lost 25 lbs as a result.

I am also experiencing that and have lost over 8 pounds since Oct 4. I can't complain, though, since I could stand to lose 50 lbs!

My appetite was poor for probably around a month or so after my surgery. I would get hungry, but very small portions would make me feel full.

I attributed my appetite change to several things...anesthesia from the surgery itself, pain meds for 2 weeks after (with the resulting constipation), and lack of normal activity. I did follow instructions and walk frequently for exercise, but that didn't compare to my "normal" activity.

I suggest that you stay aware of your lack of appetite, and make a concscious effort to eat healthy things (oh,ok...some chocolate shouldn't hurt LOL) and drink your fluids.
