Questions about bladder.....

I had my hysterectomy in May 2005 and it seems like my bladder is getting worse. God forbid I have to cough or sneeze and I have been making the joke I have the bladder of an 80 year old. What topped it off is this weekend at a youth football game I was caught up in a child about to make a touch down and I was jumping up and down and guess what....up to that point I had no urge to use the restroom. I am tired of this. I am seeing my family dr this Wednesday for a checkup, should I ask him about it or is there anything he could do about it besides referring me for surgery, which I do not want or will do.

Thanks for any advice,
Sherri

Questions about bladder.....

There are some other options - I'm assuming that you have been doing your kegals, and there are some prescription meds that can help in some situations. Most doctors will recommend conservative methods of treatment before doing surgery... If you do get a recommendation of surgery off the bat, I would definitely get a second opinion to verify the diagnosis. Good for you for looking into treatment! Too many of us suffer with incontinence without ever seeking help! Please let us know what the outcome is!

Questions about bladder.....

Sherri,
I can't help you with your question, but please do talk to you family doctor and get some help. No one wants to worry about leaking all the time. Hugs.

Questions about bladder.....

I have stress urinary incontinence. I was given a note from my doctor for physical therapy before going through surgery to correct my leakage problem. Please call your dr and give the physical therapy a try. I hope it helps you.

Questions about bladder.....

I did see my family dr today and he gave me some Cymbalta samples to try. He told me it is good for stress and urinary problems. I have to take them for 2 wks and if they work he will call me a prescription in. Anyone else used this medicine before?

Questions about bladder.....

I was on Cymbalta - but that was for depression and all of the pain that my depression was causing. It didn't help at all with my stress urinary incontinence.

AND - I stayed on Cymbalta for 3 months and HATED it. It made me feel like a zombie. I was really apathetic - I had no interest in anything. I would also just stare out into space. I got off of it and tried Effexor and had similar reaction as I did with the Cymbalta.

The doctor then put me on Wellbutrin for my depression and I feel much better.
