different delivery methods & different symptoms??

Hi I thought I was off the roller coaster for a few days!! Anyway, I am presently using estrogel and experiencing weight gain and bloating. Dr. has me trying a water pill to try and alleviate symptoms. Said that if that didn't work , he would put me back on the estrogen patch. I was first on the patch after my surgery for the first 8 weeks and felt fine. No bloating, weight gain, etc. except I found that the patch ran out before the change date. So at my 8 week check up, the dr. suggested I try the estrogel for a more even "flow" of estrogen. So I switched. I have put on about 12 -14 pounds since then and I am eating and exercising the same. Now my question is: how can the method of delivery of the same hormone at the same dosage cause different things??? Has anyone experienced this??? Thanks.

My estrogen patch was running out faster and my doctor wrote a prescription that allowed me to change the patch more frequently: Climara was every 7 days, but changed it to every 5 days.

Now I'm on a different dose and on the Vivelle patch which gets changed twice a week, and have had no trouble with the estrogen running out.
