Chocolate cravings and magnesium

Hey sisters, I read some articles that some of you had written pertaining to taking magnesium for chocolate cravings, I've bought the magnesium and I take 1 (325mg) pill a day. Is this the usual dosage that everyone takes and how long before it takes the cravings away....needless to say i'm still scarfing down the chocolate.......HELP

Wow. More info., please! How long have you had the magnesium? Maybe it needs a little more time. Doesn't anyone else have these cravings?

This is only my third day taking them so i'm not sure how long it takes for it to work or if it will even work, I just remember reading some info that magnesium helps with the chocolate cravings and since i cant work out yet I figured I would try it, it wont hurt. Thats basically all i know.

Chocolate cravings and magnesium

I did a "google" search for "chocolate cravings" and then searched within results for "magnesium". It pulled up 630 links. I just did a quick overview, and some support the theory, others don't. I didn't take time to read to see which side has any real evidence but it is an interesting idea.

I don't know about that one - I think I could probably eat the whole bottle of magnesium and still down a whole bag of ghiardelli chocolate. The milk chocolate ones with the chopped up almonds in them that just melt on the tip of your tongue the minute you put them in your mouth. Who wants to ruin that - we are recovering after loosing our uteruses we need our chocolate. It helps with the emotional strain. lol Lynn

Chocolate cravings and magnesium

Interesting this comes up. I started citracal calcium-vit.d with magnesium about 2 weeks ago. I am a chocoholic and have wondered why I don't have as bad a craving...then I read what you wrote...wow....I love my chocolate and now just don't want it lately. I bet it's the magnesium then in the citracal's I am taking. Makes sense to me now.

thanks for posting this. I have wondered why I don't crave my chocolate as much...now I know.

Chocolate cravings and magnesium

I'm a chocohaulic also, but after surgery it just didn't taste good, along with everything else. I was kind of happy...I need to loose weight.

But, Here at 3 months post-op Dove Dark Chocolate is heaven again.

As far as magnesium - I have taken 500mg of Mag a day for other health reasons for over a year...it has not reduced my cravings. sorry

But, we're all different. The MAg. can help you anyway. take it before bed and you'll sleep better. Take up to 500 mg for constipation. good stuff.

Headin' for the cupboard...
