Bowel Prep! I am scared to start!

I am getting a colonoscopy and endoscopy tomorrow. My gastro doctor prescribed pills, 32 of them, for me to take to get my colon cleaned out. I am scared to take them. I have a fear of vomiting and am terrified I will vomit. Has anyone of you guys ever taken osmoprep pills for your colonoscopy? I am not so scared about the going to the bathroom part. And I am not 50, I am 36, but thought this board would have more advice since alot of people at 50 get a colonoscopy. Thanks, TDR

Bowel Prep! I am scared to start!

I'd rather have a c-section than throw-up. I had a colonscopy a couple of weeks ago. I drank the rotten liquid and the procedure was very easy. I got all worked up for nothing. It was the best sleep I had had in a long time. We stopped at Starbucks on the way home. Good Luck.

Bowel Prep! I am scared to start!

The worst part of a colonoscopy is the prep! The great thing is the versed and demerol they give you...you do not remember the procedure at all. I would talk myself into the prep and the pill usually work within a few hours and the liquid works right away and all night long as I remember. Good luck

Bowel Prep! I am scared to start!

I haven't had a colonscopy or endoscopy and never had to take the pills you are mentionning, so can't shed any lights on any side effect they may bring along. Hopefully, someone else will come along with some info.

I did want to mention that if your doctor expects you to take these meds for tomorrow's procedure, then it's important to do so. I you have any questions, the best thing to do is to call your doctor's office as that could have an impact on the results of the procedure.

Lots of s and best of luck for tomorrow's procedure.

Bowel Prep! I am scared to start!

I am back from my colonoscopy and endoscopy. Everything went fine. I was asleep for both procedures and don't remember a thing. I am so glad I went ahead and got this done. Not bad at all. Anyone who is scared about the precedure, don't be. It was a breeze. The bowel prep was the worst part, but again, no where near as bad as I thought it would be. The doc did find a hemorrhoid and 2 polyps and he removed both of them. The endoscopy found a host of problems though. I have a stomach ulcer, hiatal hernia, reflux esophagitis, gastritis, and esophagitis. UGH He did several biopsies and I have to go back to see him in 2 weeks. He said we would discuss what to do next at that appointment. Kind-of makes me feel better though...I have been taking prilosec and 10 to 15 rolaids a day and now I know why. This also explains the burning stomach that I feel alot of the time. Thanks to all who posted. Tracy
