Argh..3 mos. post op..emotional mess

I just read the 3 mos. post op Menopause check point... I feel like I have all but maybe 2 things listed of possible experiences
fatigue/tired/insomnia
at the end of my rope
flashes, night sweats,
weight gain, no matter what I do
I am out of :balanc: and don't know how to get my life back.
I cry at the drop of a hat, or sentimental commercial or soft song on the radio.
I gained 10 lbs. and have read how so many sisters have lost weight.
I recently was told that I have excessive arthritis in my neck and had a full body bone scan, waiting for those results.
My thyroid supposedly is ok aside from a 5mm x 6mm nodule, non-cancerous.
Any uplifting thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. And I'm sorry for complaining, I just don't have anyone in the house that knows what I'm feeling inside.
Thank you sisters,Chris

Hey Chris,
I am a month behind you and I have one ovary left. I am having all the same issues. I was on hormones right after surgery because of these issues but my surgeon at my six week said I do not need it and to take it off since I still have one ovary. Well I went to my reg ob today and he put me back on them and took hormone levels. He gave me samples of vivelle dot and ambien and lunesta. He also gave me a script for something that helps with hot flashes. I hope it all works! He also said it can take three to four months for the hormones to regulate and a year to get all the kinks out from this surgery. I feel your pain girl!!!!

ysbigsis,
I'm so sorry you're going thru this! I haven't exactly expereinced the same thing (to that degree) since I still my ovaries but they were asleep for a long time so I did go thru it for a little while. You must be so frustrated.
I'm sure another sister will come along that might be able to offer real advice but I just wanted to send you a hug and let you know that there are those of us out here who care. Our families just don't get it sometimes. Thank goodness for this site, huh? Hopefully you can get some hormones or something that can start giving you some relief!

I would really look more into the thyroid thing. Maybe see an endocrinologist. Is it normal to have nodules??? That doesn't sound right. Arthritis and everything else you mentioned increases with a low thyroid. Can you ask your doc for a referral? Hope they can figure it out.

Tara-- I did see an ENT dr. last week friday and he told me that if the nodule is 1cm then it is a concern.
My GP dr. told me that if I want to believe that my weight gain is Hyster. related, go ahead. (Looking for a new GP).
The whole thyroid thing seems to have started after my hyster. I'm thinking that I should maybe contact my OB and see what he says especially since you mentioned that the thyroid has a lot to do with the arthritis.
And I thought everything would be better after the surgery. I'll have to wait until next week to get the OB he's not in on friday. Thanks for your information and well wishes. As well as the well wishes of the other sisters.
I just knew I'd find support here, even this far out after surgery.
Thank you ladies.
Chris
