Tell All Tuesday

Morning all, I just caught up on Sun and Mon posts and am sending special s to all of you. I just wanted to start the thread and then head off to work where things have gotten very busy again. Still eating too much. Did pretty well yesterday until the way home and stopped for a little mini burger and a shake. I was obsessed with that, but am glad that I had the burger because I HATE the combination of milkshake and burger for some reason. Not that it stopped me from finishing it, but it will remind me not to do it again since it brings no pleasure. At least not the combination

Time to get up and get rolling

to everyone, gainers and losers all, we do our best, we do what we can do, sometimes better than other times.

Tell All Tuesday

Hi Desk and all who follow today

Busy busy time of year... I'm only working a 1/2 a day today and then off for the rest of the week. So much to still get done for Thanksgiving as I'm cooking. I'll be food shopping right after work... then home to get last minute touches done. I also wanted to make a batch of oatmeal cookies today -- somewhat healthy but delicious.

DSis will be coming tomorrow, and then DgS will be dropped off after school. So I may be a little scarce during the remainder of the week.

I have healthy menus planned with lots of veggies and fruits for snacking. It'll be nice to start eating healthier... and this vacation time is perfect. Also, have plans for getting out for a walk each day. Somehow it just easier to do the "right thing" when I'm home.

Desk... on being sooo busy at this time of year. I don't know about you, but the busier/crazier work is, I find that it definitely effects my eating.

Ali... hope DH made it home safely!!

Melissa... for you dealing with DH during your day.

Emily... I missed the piece on 60 minutes, but read the article. This same issue has been addressed at one of our local towns are also enacting new laws targeting illegal aliens as well.

Margo... thinking of you and your family!!

Nancy... have a great visit with DD, and a safe trip getting to and from.

Hi's to everyone I didn't address as I'm out of time.

Well... it's that time of the morning where I need to get myself into gear. Have a great holiday to those celebrating!!

Good Morning my BEST friends!

Desk...I can get obsessed with eating something like that too. I just can't make myself not stop and get it or even prepare it at home if it's something I crave. It's Egg Nog Milkshake time of year, so I know I'll have to have at least one sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Sue..Enjoy your time with your family this week.

I'm heading off to Curves, then I'm going to walk. I'll finish putting stuff in the car this morning, then I pick up DH sometime between 1:00 and 2:00. He's suppose to let me know, but if I don't hear from him, it's 2:00. I'd like to get rolling a bit earlier than that, but he's got to get all the loose ends tied up at work before we go. We'll stop someplace between Cleveland and Buffalo tonight. Then it's about a 6 hour drive in the morning to be at DD's. Not to bad of a way to go. I'll be scarce the rest of the week then. (DD does have her computer on most of the time, so I might peek in and say Hi while others are getting cleaned up).

Food yesterday was good, but the scales didn't move today. I know they can't drop a pound every day, but it sure helps to keep me motivated when it does. I'm hoping to just stay even now that we're away from home. SIL called last night and we're doing a pre-Thanksgiving celebration with them Wednesday night. She said probably pizza and beer. I'll work hard at behaving.

If I don't get a chance to post while I'm gone....Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, have a great weekend everyone!

Ok..Off to Curves then

Have a BEST OP day everyone!

Nancy, have a safe trip and write when you can!! Thanks for the reminder that we all have our unsuppressable demons now and then.

Sue, you may be right about the busy vs. eating deal. I know that's how I happened to drop 10 lbs while I was in FL last winter. Then once I got back to work things were confusing all around, and I started eating in frustration at work. If I were better organized then perhaps it would help - I know it would - because I would not have to stop and think (and wander off for a snack to settle myself) between tasks. My job is not exactly "linear" so I never really know what I'll end up doing, who I'll be calling, what kinds of letters may be needed, and if I really understand the rules I'm supposed to be explaining (and enforcing). But the good news so far is that I bought a package of celery and washed and prepared it so I can grab a stick any time during the day. I've already eaten quite a few, and I just opened up a single-serving package of salmon, added some (regular) mayo and chopped celery into it, and I feel pretty good for a while. I almost made some toast to go with it, but decided I could hold out until lunch. I also got apples and bananas for emergency snacks to keep me away from the candy drawer. I'll cut up an apple for dessert, and may have a banana with peanut butter before I drive home tonight after Yoga. Lunch will be a pre-packaged chicken Caesar salad and probably a tomato. This SHOULD be enough for me, so we'll just wait and see what kind of conversations my stomach has with my mind.

Sharon, the only reason I'm NOT thinking about the gastric lap band is that I can't afford to have anything happen to me, and I don't know about risks. There are always risks. But as I said the other day, I'm at risk for heart attack and other obesity-related events. Diabetes runs in my family and on my father's side there is a heart disease issue. I can't take the chance there, either. All I want to do is eat less! How hard can that be?

Okay, back to finish what I started yesterday, letters and phone calls. After I finish my salmon.

Good morning all,
DH arrived home safely...have him home for 19 days...but who's counting? (me)
Have to go with DD to the doctor today. Her DH is working. It's a followup visit to all the medication problems she had previously. She finally seems to be over the reactions she had. Whew...
I hope to get outside and rake leaves sometime today...quite chilly outside, but nice and sunny. That will replace my walk for the day!
Food is more and more challenging. Gatherings last weekend and of course this week several more. I'll be happy with that .6 loss again if I can get one! Actually, I'll be happy not to have a gain!
Desk - shakes are my downfall...but they have to be the "real" kind!!! If I'm splurging, it has to be for a good reason!
Sue-I'm cooking for all this week too...planning regular green beans vs. the cassarole (though sons MiL is bringing that).
Nanc-have a safe drive and wonderful time :steer:
To the rest who follow - have a fantastic week and think before you eat! Keep drinking (water) all! Let's survive the holidays without a major gain!

Good morning everyone! Nice and sunny but very chilly day here for a change. So glad the dreary weather is gone for a few days.

I was very OP yesterday(and I mean it), went to Curves and had some water but not enough. Had a very long Booster Club meeting last night which means more paper work for me. Today is a busy day getting things ready for the holiday. Tonight is another scrimmage and gotta get grocery shopping in there somewhere as well. I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner as my family will be home and I always have my mom over as well. Tomorrow is pie baking day along with last minute cleaning. I will also try and get Curves in again tomorrow night for my third time as our Curves will then be closed until Monday. No problem there, I will be too busy to get there anyway. So lots going on in the next few days...............fun times when all the family gets together but then again that is what Thanksgiving is all about.

Nancy, have a safe trip and a fabulous time.

Sue and Ali, enjoy your grandkids at this time of year!

Desk, hang in there with me!

It seems we all have issues when it comes to this weight thingy and it is a lifetime battle. That's what is so frustrating. I plan on enjoying my holiday and then getting right back on that boat! I just don't want to gain! That is my plan!

Hi Again Everyone! I'm waiting now on DH to call so I can leave to pick him up.
I weighed myself this morning and my biggest goal is to weigh that (or less) when I get home and weigh in on Monday morning.

I've got my Curves travel card, so hopefully I can get my 3rd visit in at the Massachusetts Curves near DD's house. I'm hoping they will be open some on Friday or Saturday. Maybe I'll look them up and call.

Ok..Have a Wonderful Weekend Everyone. Eat Turkey and veggies. (Yea..like we can stay out of the other stuff ).

Tell All Tuesday

Hi Everyone

Finally have a moment to check in. Read yesterday's posts so I'm all cought up. Doesn't mean I'll remember what anyone said of course.

Food today hasn't been bad - we went out for bkft and yes I did have 3/4 c coffee. My first coffee in weeks. Ran a number of errends, got things done. It's and here but windy also. Brrrrrr.

Bkft: 1 egg easy over 1 slice wheat toast, 1/2 the serving home fries and coffee. I coulda lived without the potato's and should have skipped them.
Lunch: piece of pumpkin pie? Good choice. NOT.
Dinner: Having chicken fried steak. I'll eat only about 2 or 3 oz. That's about all I can tolerate of red meat or breaded things. Salad will be our side dish. Will make smashed potato for DD to go w/hers.

Lap banding - I'm not the one to ask. I tought people on the Rue-N-Y proceedure as that's what I had. I know several people who have had the lap banding and one very well - You have to remember that EACH proceedure has it's own set of risks and complications. Doctors who perform LapBand should fully worn you regarding the problems with the band erroding the top of the stomach - repair of same results in a full gastric bypass surgery. This is a subject you should attend an open support meeting and ask anyone and everyone questions. Consult with a surgeon who comes highly recommended. Research both proceedures on-line. For those asking, did you realize that there are about 8 different GBsurgeries? Each one is different, different results, different reactions. Different consequences.

I eat too much. Yep, it's true. LOL. I too much. I also make the wrong choices at times. Just look at what I chose today. Pie for lunch. Gezzzz. I'm worse than I was a year ago. My body has begun to tolerate SOME carbs again, and I give in. I don't exactly crave them, I just see them and open my mouth and shove them in. When they used to make me sick it was easy to avoid them, lose the wt and keep it off. Now it's a struggle at times. So GBsurgery (nor lapbanding) IS NOT a magic bullet. Never forget that. Protein is the mantra you will have to learn to live with. Carbs=bad, Protein=good.

Everyone sounds like they are gearing up for the holiday food wars. It's always good to keep reality in mind. The fact that most of us agree that maintaining is a good goal should help in winning the food war. Someone said they gained 40 pounds over holidays? Wow - that had to hurt. 20 lbs per month over say..2 months..that's quite a bit. Remember that several of the pounds we gain will be water wt from the extra seasoned foods, fatty foods, etc....and will come off or stay off if we choose carefully while also indulging with one or two special items at a party. Better to give in to a treat than to end up feeling sorry for ourselves, binging, then feeling guilty - which only starts the cycle over again. Never ending circle.

OK - DH is waiting for me - of course he is....
Sue - just wait. Hope you've got a big stick to your DH with when he's home all the time. Keep it handy.

Hugs to all - I'll stop in later when DH goes to bed to nap before going into work.

Tell All Tuesday

Hello!

Its been a busy day today, I ended up working 9 - 3 today, cos someone rang in sick, so I've had 2 meals instead of 3 today (I started early, so missed the toast in work before I start) but I did manage to stay OP unless we're counting the half dozen chocolates I ate from the tin

My mantra is now 'I'm not hungry, I don't need anything to eat' and it does seem to be working, also working a bit later leaves no time or opportunity for snacking.

We had a lovely dinner tonight, steak and ale crispy pie, with mash, carrots, peas and gravy. I had turky ham and tomato sandwiches for brunch, with WW bread.

It's 10pm here, so I'm signing off now, to go to bed so I will see you all tomorrow.

Goodnight all!
