Blood Clots?

I went to see my family doc due to having a bad cough. They could not find anything wrong with me so they did a chest exray and took blood. They called me that night and told me to go to the hospital right a way for a cat scan of my chest. They said that my blood work was abnormal and it came back that I had a blood clot. I did the cat scan which came back that I did not have a blood clot in my lungs. I haven't heard anything back from them and it's been a week. What do I do, I'm still worried about this, and I'm still coughing all the time ( this tends to hurt the belly some ). I have heard that a blood clot in the lung is not something to mess with. Help sisters.

Blood Clots?

I'd say call your dr immediately! Even if you call and find out there is nothing, then atleast you'll have peace of mind... If you call and find out its something, then you'll know you need to take immediate action..

Call your Dr ASAP!
Keep us posted!!!

Blood Clots?

I am not a doctor but I think I know about "the test" you had. There is a blood test that measures "clotting". People who have had recent surgery generally test positive for this test because, hopefully, you are healing (e.g., clotting) from all the interal work. What I was told was, within 2 or so weeks of surgery: negative ultrasound (or other x-ray) + positive test would mean you would come back in one week for another ultrasound (or x-ray) to be on the safe side.

I would not worry, but I would call my doctor and ask what he thinks about redoing the x-ray in a week to be on the safe side.

Good luck!

Blood Clots?

*seeking solice* ... that's absolutely right ... a blood test that checks your clotting factor ... you cannot tell that a clot is present from just a blood test. As you're coughing, they did a chest x-ray just to be on the safe side. You've heard nothing further because your chest x-ray was normal.

Call your doctor to see if he/she wants to see you again or not. Please try not to worry ... I think you've just misunderstood what they said.

Blood Clots?

I would call my doctor. I changed my pre-op appointment from Friday to Thursday because I had swelling in my upper arm. Turns out I had blood clots in my arm. I have been on blood thinner shots (2x's a day in my stomach and I have to do it!!!!! yuk) for two weeks. I am going back to the dr. tomorrow and will hopefully get to stop the shots. If the clots are still there, I will be put in the hosp., they will change the meds and regulate them over a couple of days and then I will get to come home. Please do not mess around with this. Call the dr. just for peace. Take care.

Blood Clots?

Dear Insurance Lady:
There is another type of Xray they can take and I think it's called a Profusion test or mayby a VQ test. I can't remember...you can call your local hospital and ask for the CT department or Radiology department and ask them what exactly the test is called, I'm sure they will know. I knew of a gal that continued to have terrible symptoms and her CT only showed small PE's; when they finally did another test, the one I can't recall the name of, they discovered a large clot at the bottem of her lund that the regular CT scan could not detect. I hope you are doing well and will get back to me and let me know what's happening.
Sincerely, Candis Your PE surviror. thank God, Hystersister!
