excited/ but scared

I'm scheduled for surgery on 12/6/06, and I happy to think my suffering will be over, but I'm scared to think I will be opening up a whole new can of worms.

You sound pretyy normal to me
I was soooo nervous while waiting for my hyst. I found that staying busy helped me get through the wait. In addition to cooking, cleaning and getting everything organized, I took the time for a little "pre-pampering ". I enjoyed a movie and lunch with friends, shopped for new comfy jammies, had my hair done, took nice long bath. Do soemthing nice for yourself - something YOU enjoy

Best wishes.

I have had a completely uncomplicated recovery. Very little pain at all, I hardly used the pain pump in the hospital, went home the day after surgery, and took ExtraStrength Tylenol for about the first week.

The majority of sisters have no problems and have a good recovery. We just read more about the problems because those are the ones looking for help and answers.

I'm sure your surgery will go well, and you'll feel a whole lot better soon!

mietooo -

I just had surgery on November 17th. And I promise all you will know is waiting in the room to be taken back to surgery and then being in your room... I don't remember the recovery room! Just make sure that your family and friends push your morphine button at least once or twice an hour while you are still sleeping. That was the only time I was truely in pain... I had slept in my room for several hours before waking up and no one had pushed my morphine button so I was in terrible pain for an hour or so until the morphine was back in my system... the nurses will not let anyone else push the button but just have your family do it while the nurses are out...and then say you came to and hit the button then was out again! You can not over dose on morphine the machine will only let you have so much at a time! I wish you the best of luck!

I never needed the morphine pushed for me when I was asleep. They wake you up all the time anyway to take your blood pressure and temperature. You can push the button then if you need to.

Yeah, I just finished mine, and am disappointed to know that I will have to take pads with me to the hospital. Sad!
