How do you apply the hormone patch where it will stay?

I can't get this thing to stay. Should I use this or should I get hormones in another form? What kind, if any, hormones do you use? What are the advantages/disadvantages? TIA

How do you apply the hormone patch where it will stay?

Hi!

I replied to your post in the Hormone Jungle the other day to give some tips on how to get the estrogen patches to stick. Here's a link back to that thread:

http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...d.php?t=279017

If you can't get your patches to stick despite trying all of those tips, you may have to try a different method of delivery. If you prefer not to take pills, there are options such as Estrasorb (a lotion) and EstroGel which. as the name implies, is a gel. Both of those are bio-identical estradiol, the same estrogen that is in the patch you are using. If you don't mind taking pills, Estrace is a brand name bio-identical estradiol. You can also get generics for Estrace.

If you don't care if you are on bio-identicals or not, you can browse through the various options in articles #10 - 13 in this link to the Hormone Jungle Articles.

I'm currently using Vivelle Dot and love it. But, what works well for me may not for you. Hormones aren't a one size fits all deal, unfortunately. You may have to do some trial and error testing before finding the right match for you. Maybe your doctor will have some samples of other estrogens you are interested in trying so you don't have to commit to a prescription that may not be right for you.

I hope this helps!

How do you apply the hormone patch where it will stay?

I found applying it in the center made it pucker, so I always use the sides where it dosent seem to pucker. I use Vivelle Dot also.
Maybe it dosent pucker there because I am smoother skinned or more fleshy there.

are you using a generic patch or name brand?

I don't know from experience, but I was talking to someone at work who uses a patch and she said that the generic one didn't stick as well as the name brand. Her insurance wouldn't cover the name brand if there was a generic available, but she was doing well on it, so she decided it was worth it to buy the name brand rather than let insurance buy the generic.

Thank you April Dawn: I was just looking to see if others had success using other methods. I really appreciate your response. I think yours sounds very good and I will have to look into those band-aide type things.
