Cough!!!

I started getting sick on Saturday and by Tuesday I got the dreaded cough!
I'm going to call the doctor's office this morning, but I'm a little concerned they're going to cancel me. I guess I'm not concerned, really, I'm more concerned about having a cough with a TAH.
If it's not one thing, it's a COUGH!

Cough!!!

One of the nurses who cared for me after my hyst. had a cough (she thought it was just allergies because she said she didn't feel sick)...well, I caught it. Within a couple of days of arriving home, I started coughing. It was horribly painful (I didn't use much pain med because I hated the way it made me feel). My gyn. immediately prescribed an antibiotic, but until it kicked in, it was rough. While they probably will want to delay surgery if you're still sick, it really is the best thing. Maybe they can get you well before the 8th! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Cough!!!

I got a cough four days after my TAH. I put up with it for two days trying to get rid of it on my own. (I thought it was allergies or the intubation making my throat sensitive.) Anyway, I finally went to see my doctor. She prescribed a cough syrup (Tussinex?) that got rid of the cough completely. I think it had hydrocodone/codeine in it. I don't like the woozy feeling codeine gives, but I was so grateful to have that cough syrup. I cannot believe how effective it was at getting rid of that cough. Coughing with a TAH is not fun. I felt like something on my left-side was ripping apart.

Cough results

Well, I still have the cough, but I no longer have a hysterectomy date. Not even because of the cough!
I called the doctor's office to ask them what I should do, and they transferred me to the surgery scheduler lady, who told me that I don't have a Dec. 8 appointment, that something came up for the doctor, and she'll let me know when I'm rescheduled. I was so mad that I just said, "okay", and hung up.
I'm not mad that the appointment was cancelled, but I am mad that for the umpteenth time, this woman didn't call me!!!!!
If I hadn't had a cough, I would have gone in to have my surgery that day, and been told then that I don't have this appointment.
I had to call the hospital myself and cancel my pre-op appointment, because the woman hadn't even done that!!!
Well, at least I will be home for my daughter's winter ball, and I can now go with my son for his stomach biopsy, so it worked out well.
I just hate that office!!!
thanks for letting me vent!
